Considering our "heroes" make a living of entering other creatures homes, slaughtering them, taking their stuff, and delivering their remains to a taxidermist, I have no illusions about who the "bad guys" are.

A goat does kill you in the first dungeon...

Goats don't naturally live in ancient tombs and monster infested caves, I'm pretty sure they're up to no good. Certainly their comments lean towards the belligerent. Bleaty claims your kills are wrongful, but he also makes it clear he has spiteful intentions.

But we never do quite know what the goats are up to. This fragment is the best clue I've found so far:

Bleaty's Journal wrote:...urers coming. I'll see them all dead. Dead! DEAD!

We got a loyal goat into the Glowing Guardian's holy books and managed to eat the volume that explained to adventurers how to be extra humble. That should cut nown on the number of jerks claiming to be novices while beating our top people to death with their bare hands.
I think I hear adventurer's coming. I'll see them all dead. Dead! DEAD!

Mune 17, 824DD
What the hell is a tri-sword? How is that even a thing?
I think I hear adventurer's coming. I'll see them all dead. Dead! DEAD!

Namtar sent an emmissary today. He wanted to know if we wanted to join his villainy franchise as a lead-in dungeon boss. Had a contract offering eternal life in exchange for servitude. Headbutted emissary. Ate contract. I'm not sure what the hell they're up to in the east, but we goats have a kingdom to crush.
I think I hear adventurer's coming. I'll see them all dead. Dead! DEAD!

Evril 2, 824DD
Heroes cottoned on to the fake Viper Ward gag. Oh well. Funny while it lasted. Haven't laughed so hard since the night of the first attack on the caravan, when we found their mail servant and stopped them sending for help.
I think I hear adventurer's coming. I'll see them all dead. Dead! DEAD!

The Indomitable sent me a whiny note about rejecting that Namtar jerk. Man I hate scumbags with death protection; they think they're so clever. We should have gone after all the CYDESTEPP glyphs at the same time we ate the CIKBUHT ones. Sent back note reminding him who was voted most likely to be beaten to death by a begining warlord armed with dirty cutlery.
I think I hear adventurer's coming. I'll see them all dead. Dead! DEAD!

Evril 15, 824DD
I feel somehow less resistant today. It is probably nothing.
I think I hear adventurer's coming. I'll see them all dead. Dead! DEAD!

Evril 21, 824DD
Taurog has stopped dumping his crap off the side of his altar where we can easily sit on it while heroes cry. Killjoy.
I think I hear adventurer's coming. I'll see them all dead. Dead! DEAD!

By the Earthmother's Teat! We've done it! The ritual cost a lot of goat blood, goat sweat and goat tears, but we managed to damage the fundamental nature of the the magic that CYDESTEPP relies on to make it as tiresome for adventurers as it feels for me! Warlords are lurking around looking smug, but we'll get to them in time. After a short rest we can begin planning for the secret goat lev...

The lore told by the books in the Diablo games built up the tension. Basically you soon realized that the devil himself was up to some mischief (now there a shocker). I'm more afraid of Bleaty than Diablo because he is unpredictable. As has already been seen on this thread not everyone is convinced that goats are evil... well... some goats clearly are! So watch out adventurers.

I just realized. Taurog hates magic. Goats have magic resistance.

HE TRULY WAS THE GOD OF GOATS ALL ALONG. No wonder they love sitting on his equipment so much.
