Back to the topic of WONAFYT:

What if WONAFYT was changed to teleport the player to a random monster of <= player level? Possibly it could give targetting priority to hidden or unreachable monsters and probably it could ignore magic resist (since the player is being teleported, not the monster). Maybe it could not trigger life steal.

I have to agree. That would make it potentially waste 9 tiles of regeneration rather than 6. Hidden or unreachable monster would add a high risk to it making WONAFYT even more of a last resort spell than it is now imho. I mean the part where the game shouts "Screw you!" in your face makes part of its charme, but in this case i rather wouldn't use it very often.

I actually used WONAFYT whenever my inventory allowed to when worshipping Tikki Tooki to have piety kills after leveling up. Basically it's always worth it in situations when you have to find monsters to fight against anyways and have nothing left to precast (or don't want to precast yet because your health is not at max). Maybe you don't want to kill the monsters you summoned right now, but it's never bad to have as many monsters right where you can see them as possible. At namtar's lair with the double life drain this can save quite a lot of tiles to regen up again.

For most situation however the last update (priority targetting of the magically sensitive) of WONAFYT worked actually against its uses. Once you summoned all of the lowest magic resistance monsters they just get shuffled around, when your aim was to get as many monsters as possible out of the black fog. I think targetting unrevealed monsters as first priority and then going for magic resistances would greatly enhance the feasibility of the original uses of WONAFYT. If these uses aren't good enough, a small buff to fighting a summoned monster (+1 exp or gold or whatever) before fighting someone else could do the trick. Maybe just make the monsters slowed, because they have been teleported around in a manner similar to WEYTWUT (i think this has been proposed before in this thread by someone else - credit to him/her).

This would be a pretty significant change, but how about a spell that raises the targeted enemy's level by one (and fully heals it back to maximum health)? WONAFYT would be a reasonable name for such a thing, even if it has nothing in common with the old spell.
