Game inspired by Desktop Dungeons

Postby Nurator on Tue Aug 27, 2013 7:41 am

Hi all :)

Because of DD I was inspired to create a puzzly dungeon crawler myself. Its still in an early phase and many graphics are placeholders, but the game is playable and the core design is finished.

So I would love if some of you guys would try it out and give me feedback on it :)

Quest for Achievements

Imagine a dungeon crawler without gold, loot or xp. Cant? This game is achievement driven. Everything you unlock is done by completing a specific task (like "Onehit a lvl 3 enemy or higher") to really decrease the amount of farming. Because there is nothing you COULD farm^^ The storydriven dungeons will lead you through an unexplored world just waiting for you to find secret dungeons or spectacular landmarks.

The dungeon crawling part is combined with building a huge city (also driven through achievements) and unlocking new classes/weapons/armors/... and TREES! (just play the game to see the fuzz about the trees^^)

Interested? Download the free version here (just 10 mb) and plz comment :)

Win 32:

MacOS:

The game will get updates regarding your comments and feedback :)

Cheers,

Nurator aka Tobias

Update from September 1st: New levels, new armor, several bugfixes and balance issues :)

Sorry that I haven't given this a play yet - super busy this week and I'm supposed to be judging games for a local development competition that I'm not even getting enough time to play either.

Just wondering if you might want to theme it like a TV show or a book series, maybe? Like each achievement would be a plot point and you're trying to make them all happen so that the series can reach its conclusion. You could call it Spoilers Needed :)

lol :D Now the story is something like that: A god is very bored and gives tasks to the locals to entertain him. If you do that often enough he is so excited, that he gives you access to new items.

Hmm but that thought is pretty cool :D

I can't really get it to work on my mac. Wine bottler is being a problem.
We made an expansion and it is awesome. Really, you should check it out, especially if you're looking for some extra challenge.

My PC won't run it either. "Not a valid WIN32 application" it says..
What platform is this intended for?

OK, downloaded 32bit version (didn't see it there before..). Seems to run OK (no crashes, stuck in dungeon once by clicking something other than "finish").
This game seems to have a pretty solid framework. Progression limitations seem well thought out (I'm kinda stuck by the way- 13/16 on hut- rescued old man but don't know where/what next. Warrior challenge has me stumped, is there a way to change weapons? All i seem to have is a dagger).
VERY interesting mechanic how taking damage actually levels you up!
This will take more playing to really figure out how/when/what to progress.
Is there a back button? (selected hut, changed mind but no way back..)
A way to start over/make a new profile?
The achievement progression style is a bit reminiscent of DD alpha. :)
Can't wait to see how it progresses!

Hi Raz! Thanks for tje Playthrough!

You need to win Warrior Challenge to continue. Just try to win it you dont need any achievements (yet^^)

To your questions: You can change weapons! Just click on it before you start the level.
You can back out of your dungeon by pressing escape with no enemy marked (I hope this is implemented in your version... will upload a new one tonight!)
New profile can be made with Shift+Enter, it kills everything^^ Profile Switching isnt really implemented yet :D

One tip to Warrior Challenge: Use your new ability^^ And maybe play with Sword, this should be easier^^
