Wouldn't have bought this had I realized...

...that it was for a 'Steam only' version of the game.

I (wrongly) assumed that it was DRM free (w/h a Steam key included), as many other indies do something similar to this. At the end of the day, I should've researched the lay of the land prior to buying. So yes, it's my fault, and i'm not asking for a refund...but it could be clearer on your site that the full release is Steam ONLY - as this is not obvious from the information given.

I've sworn off buying (renting?) from Steam for many reasons that have been put forward by other anti-DRM proponents, so I won't bother going into that here.

Disappointed because the game looks fantastic, and I hope it does well for you guys. However, I would not have bought the game had I known it was Steam only. Hopefully, it finds its way onto gog or DRM free on the Humble Store in the future.

Cheers. :)

We're looking into ways to distribute the game as a stand-alone thing (I hesitate to say DRM-free because many people will go "Oh, but it's phoning home!" when we do our cloud-save checks AND the game is essentially DRM-free via Steam as well - but that's a technical definition argument that I really don't want to have, so I'm not going to claim it for DD) but right now just doing the Steam launch on its own is more than hectic enough.

You'll still be able to play the full release via the website - although once again, many people who dislike Steam love to tell us that that's not true offline play. Which is true, it isn't. We've run the numbers and we can't distribute a DRM-free version of the game from our site reliably for all the stuff that needs to happen in the background. That's why we're looking for other distribution options. Unfortunately I can't guarantee that any options we might go with in future will be as generous with keys for pre-orders as Steam has been...

Given the above, if you'd like a refund, let me know. (Oh, and tell me if your forum email address is the one you used to order the game or not too ;))

I also think you could be a little bit clearer. Until now, I wasn't sure that playing via the website would still be possible. It is really important and good news for me! :)
Will there be any differences between the versions?
Also, will the steam release be the full release or still beta?

Thanks for the clarification, really looking forward to the 7th! It will be very interesting to have many new players playing the game for the first time.

For the future I would also prefer a stand-alone version, but right now the steam release is very important, hope you are prepared for a big run on the game ;)
