Location of saves in freeware version?

Postby Mr.Bimble on Mon Jul 11, 2011 3:12 pm

Hi,

Does anyone know in which folder the freeware version saves your progress?

I tried to update to v0.21 but it didn't seem to find my saves, so I want to manually put my old saves in the right place.

Apologies if this is covered elsewhere but I haven't been able to find it.

You're playing on Mac, right? An update to Game Maker for Mac moved the save files inside the .app file itself. Copy the old .sav files to DesktopDungeons.app/Content/Profiles and it should work fine.

Hope that helps!

Sorry. I should've said that I'm playing on PC.

Oh right.

In that case, there are two things that could be wrong (as the game accesses the save files the same way it used to in previous versions). Either the game is being played from within a zip file and needs to be extracted so that it can access the save information via relative directories (but I doubt you're doing that), or the game is being launched via a shortcut that sets up the wrong working directory, hence being unable to load the saves.

Either way, make sure that the game is properly extracted, copy the save files across to the chardata folder and run the exe itself, you should be golden after that :)
