Exactly, but there are ways to use those spells to gain more experience. And I always end up at about level 8 with 1,2, or 3 health left. Also I used all my potions at that point.

Something that a lot of people don't notice when they start playing is that if you explore on full health, you're wasting the limited resources the game is giving you. If you're having problems with the Den or Venture Cave, that probably means that you're wasting exploration quite a bit. Those levels are tuned to be definitely winnable

Also, if you're not going to be able to fully heal without using potions (no level up upon kill and no exploration space left), then you should fight the boss.

but at that point i have like 5 health. instant death to fight the boss.

oh and I deffinatly do not waste exploration. I only explore when it heals me.

Uh... I really don't know what to say. These levels are definately beatable, if not a little easier than most. If you could do an annotated playthrough or just describe what your doing, then maybe I could help you.

Interesting. Is there any chance that you might be able to post video (or successive screenshots) of a run? It might help us tune difficulty
