effects listing?

Postby dolphan13 on Tue Mar 06, 2012 2:27 pm

Kinda new to this game and I'm wondering if there is a listing of "effects" and what they do. I've checked the wiki and forums but have not been able to find descriptions of effects.

For instance, I don't know what the burning effect really does. I know a few ways to get it on a monster but what does it do? I found this in a description of the sword Whurrgarble "Your physical attacks deal burning damage (+1) damage", does this mean that this sword only does +1 damage? Why not use the +2 sword or +4 fine sword instead?

Corrosion is another one....any help would be appreciated!

We're not putting a lot of effort into maintaining the item list on the wiki right now, since items are in a state of flux. Whrrgarbl in particular has already gone through three different complete overhauls.

Anyways, as to effects you might gain against monsters:

Corrosion: +1 damage from all sources
Might: +30% attack bonus, enemies struck lose 3% magic and physical resist
Burning: stacking +1 damage from successive hits against the same target (stacks only up to 2x the monster's level)
Slow: monster always strikes after you, has first strike, teleport and fireball retaliation disabled, and is worth +1 XP if killed while slowed
Poisoned: does not regenerate health while you explore

In addition to what has already been posted:
Weakening: loweres your base damage by 1
Manaburn: you loose all your mana and can't regenerate it

There is also stuff like "lower resists by X%" but that one is fairly obvious. :)

Well, those are effects that a monster can have against you. There is no way for a player to get the mana burn, resist down (outside of might) or weakening property.

How about "Lower Resist" that Bandits dish out? When I hit a Bandit and it indicates I'll get "Resist Down" (I think that's what it's called) I hit the Bandit but never seem to see any change on my character card indicting that I have some sort of lowered resistance status like I see when I get weakened/poisoned/mana burned. Is Lower Resist bugged?

Lower Resist permanently lowers your resistances, it's not a status. If your resistances are already at zero, it does nothing.

So it crushes resist characters and sucks otherwise.
We made an expansion and it is awesome. Really, you should check it out, especially if you're looking for some extra challenge.
