Well, I got some gold, so I tried a Orc Bersker, using Taurog, Compression seal, Tri Sword, Burn Salve, and Preserve Badge. Got to level 7 with a bit of struggle but not to insane. Try to kill the one with death protection... Didn't go so well. I could see the Gorgon and Half-Dragon, be gimmicky classes that while not bad are hard. But I heard that the Vampire is a average, if not above average class. I don't think that I can even really unlock anything to help, as inv. is already full. But is their any item that lets me break several layers of death protection like the trait mage sheild?

I'd still say that spellcasting classes are more powerful in this dungeon. The sorcerer has the magic shield, can prep the mace, and can use the burning of burndayraz to ignite the DPs by killing lvl 1 enemies you left over. Try some runs in the hard version of the dungeon until you feel comfortable and tackle the vicious version afterwards. You can make some mistakes in the hard version and still win.
You'll have to win with 3 classes, so the sorc is on your to-do list anyway. If you can beat the dungeon with a sorc, the other mage classes are not that different.

Use Berserker with fireballs for burning and then convert it.
We made an expansion and it is awesome. Really, you should check it out, especially if you're looking for some extra challenge.

So I guess this leads into a question about popcorn: when exactly should I be killing popcorn? I know I can use them to get rid of curses, should I also use one after every fireball when fighting bosses with Death Protection?

Use Platemail, bring a steal scroll and prep elites. Look around till you find The Amulet. LEMISI will help considerably. You can afford yo wast space as you'll immediately be level 5.

Just got a great easy win in VHoS. This strategy is GREAT. I got Warmonger, Feeling Parched, and specialist. Prep Platemail, Extra Gold, Taurog, Fewer Glyphs, Slayer Wand, Elite Items, Health, Mana, Reflex, Whupaz, Salve, and Translocation Seal. Take Taurog immediately. Get the sword, then the shied, then the helm, and last the armor. Whenever you convert a glyph, convert a mana potion for 2 conversion levels. Fight The Indomitable at level 6 and almost level 7 for a mid-fight level up. You want at least a third of the map left covered. Regen fight and mid-fight level up your way till the Indomitable is about half down. Throw down your prepped salve. Finish the fight. Buy another salve and throw it down. Take a DP from Taurog ASAP, but don't use it. If you can convert off into Drac vs BlahBlah it'll be super easy. Basically just use the rest of your resources on BlahBlah (including Whupaz).

Fun fact, Socco Trolls dungeon in DI can be handled at level 1 with a vampire with Platemail.

Fun fact 2, it was only after solving it that I realised this might be a source of infinite healing....
