Well, it makes for a gameflow hiccup from my perspective.
The Avatar wrote:I agree on the monk appearing twice for unlikely heroes. That means one of the classes isn't being used in that whole grouping of quests.
It's not just him, I think wizard appears twice and that there seems to be no Sorcerer and Paladin. There are probably reasons for this, but it's a great (if lenghtly) questline and I don't rememebr ever seeing feedback on it.
The ledger isn't a Barbarian Camp exclusive. It shows up in any of the eastern dungeons. I've had one lockered since I first found it. It is incredible with classes like Bloodmages or Assassins. It was going to be my secret weapon for the Dungeon of the Day games, but now you have spilled the beans
We'll we can't be hoarding "secret weapons" of this caliber, I guess... It's incredible with anything. It needs tweaks at the very least.
Tuesday - Boy, this midgame is loooong Unlikely heroes: Desert -
And the fighter was easy, with the combo of his ability which lets you find lower level monsters and a quickly found TT altar. Tiki's Edge, Poison, crystal ball, and a no-thought-wasted romp. Also Getindare Shanneigans. I think I also scored a hoarder and a miser, even though I had everything but the trisword in the shops. Well, this was fun, and it was refreshing to see Monk having to think his way through stuff and other guys havign a blast.Gameflow:
- If it wasn't for the Unlikely Heroes questline money rewards, I have no clue where would I get the money to buy the 3rd tier buildings. I haven't died a whole lot, I was decently thorough in questing and all that, yet I'm only unlocking the Paladin now (because I wouldn't have the cash to buy the individual preps if I bought Bloodmage). And this was my only run where I didn't both cheeze and see gold problems ahead.Gameflow Issue:
And there I go... I unlocked the Paladin instead of the bloodmage, and now I can't complete the Unlikley Heroes OR the final "tiers" class in Den of Danger without grind. And I've just written that there is no paladin in Unlikely Heroes -.- And I'll have to grind 2000 gold for it, and all my quests are in dungeons befor the final ones, and none of the quests have any gold rewards on their own. Luckily I don't have any of the throphies, but still...Second All-Badge Dungeon -
An Assasin Run finally got me the miser and faithless badges in the Venture Cave, so now I have two dungeons where I got all the badges (not in one run, but total). Could've been sooner, I guess if I were paying attention.
I also lockered the Gloves of Midas in case I have to grind and am not looking for purist.Subdungeon Screenshot:
As per Speedballs sensible request, here's a screenshot of a Venture Cave subdungeon. the sign contains lore information, and the bandit is a regular bandit. Now if someone more wiki-savy would put it up there, it'd be great. If a different kind of link is needed, by all means tell me what I need to do. (I don't know if this one's been documented, this is just a test). Also, what kind of screenshots you want for items?Yay! (Taxidermist)
All right! I scored a dragonscale in Venture cave, and prepping gloves of midas and bet on boss, also means I have enough money to buy the Bloodmage. Won't have enough for all the upgrades, and I'll have to do a purist run to get my prep money, but that wen't better than expected. Anyway, now I really have no reason to go into Slime Pits or Cursed Oasis, apart from the +8% res all charm, which might be a good idea.Like, I guess
Well, just doing a purist Bloodmage run completed the "complete Den of Danger with all basic classes" questline, got me a 1000 gold to help me on my way, and also unlocked the Hero's Helm and Doubledoom. And since it was also a miser + hoarder run, I'm only a Warmonger away from havig all the badges in the Den. Right, midgame just got closer to the writeup.Gameflow info:
To do: Doubledoom quest (s?), Unlikely Heroes: Tundra E., Possibly grab the Cursed Oasis Charm, all the silver challenges (and any gold that can be pried loose). Possibly Grimm's Grotto, since it unlocks one final shop item (one I very much like), except I have gameflow related gries towards that particular quest. Lategame will be grabbing all the throphies and completing the quests in the penultimate dungeons, gold challenges and HARD Gaan'Telet. Super-Late will be VICIOUS stuff, except I probably won't be doing the VICIOUS Gaan'Telet runs this time around.Subdungeon wiki material - (Den of Danger):
The Dark Knight subdungeon. Provides a lot of exploration on entry, and when you touch the sign, it provides even more by going dark, summons an equal leveled Vampire with bloodsteal, and apparently locks you in untill you kill him. He has above average stats for his level, as well.Yay!
And now I have all the badges in the Den of Danger courtesy of that prepped up Taurog Worshipig Orc tinker girl in the above picture. Right.Subdungeon Wiki Material: - (Creeplight Ruins):
The Venus Patrol subdungeon, which starts out fully explored and contains a crusader you can talk to. He'll let you excange piety for items. The 50p choice gives you a pair of dwarver Gauntelts, the 100p choice gives 3 Compression seals (And either 1 or 2 Health and Mana Potions as well), and I haven't tested the 20p choice. If you click on it picture, you can also see the Goblin Thief girl portrait ^^Power Concern: Venus Patrol
- the rewards might be a bit too good. No, not might be
, ARE, and not a bit
, but a LOT. Just saying.Subdungeon Wiki Material: (creeplight Ruins)
- "Eastern Loot and Lore" subdungeon below, it contains a signost telling about Namtar, a necklace (gold) and some gold. 5X5, small one. I'm not even sure it's not documented.Missclick Death no.5
- Died due to being mad and using hotkeys while playing a warlord. It would've been a learning expirience, but I allready knew the lesson - don't ever play Warlords and this will never happen.Wrapup: Unlikely Heroes: Tundra E.
A cheeky purist Warlord, and a faithess hoarder miser Bloodmage warpped this up for me, and this concludes the epic Unlikely Heroe's questline in all but name, since I still have to do the horribly missplaced halfling gig in Grimm's Grotto. Epic questline, lots of fun, might need tweaking, but it was so all over the place in every way I couldn't say what. This is sort of the "meat" of the midgame, and if you can do this, you're ready to move forward. I guess.Note, Badge Status
The only badge I'm missing in Creeplight is parched. I wonder what's up with that, as I don't remember drinking any with the Bloodmage. I do remember leaving the laptop on during the run with the cat around. My cat is obviously a potion spiker.Subdungeon Wiki Material: (Creeplight Ruins)
: One more, the Goat Horn, Lore & Loot 5X5 subdungeon. The thress Goat Horns are small items which provide +5% physical damage. It's unexplored when you descend, and the sign makes a vague refference, possibly to the Warlord challenges.Notes: Doubledoom quest:
Eh, I don't like the layout of this dungeon, allthough the increse in challenge came along nicely to test the 4 3rd tier classes reqired to beat the dungeon with. Well, Bloodmage made eveverybody look plain, weak and pedestrian. I'm amazed he still has the +1 mana per bloodpool thing going, that should've been removed moths ago. Granted, he takes a bit of expert handling, but he's still head and shoulders over everyone else. Assasin struggled, but made good use out of Mystera's various boons (-res one is an overlooked gem). Warlord did it purist, but only purist (and specialist), and the Paladin was my first ever Drac paladin (strange I know). Paladin's also not what he used to be, with the HALPMEH nerfs and everything, but thats a good thing, IMO.Gameflow Issue:
I'm kind of aware that Doubledoom requires expirience, gear and whatnot, but the way it's layed out now on the adventuring map, whatever way I choose to play the game I always end up almost forgetting it exists until it's almost endgame. Whether I speedrun, whether I cheeze, or wherther I take a scenic route I unlock it very late in the midgame, and if I went for the 3rd tier classes earlier I would've been really, really broke. I like the "Dragon Isles light" feel of it, but I also feel it should unlock earlier somehow.
