Death Gaze of Gorgon(Player)?

What is the difference between monster's death gaze and player's death gaze?

Some monsters don't die when they have lower health than my gorgon's death gaze percentage,

but they take a high damage about double.

So, I think player's death gaze is different with monster's.

Plz, could someone explain me the damage calculation?

I think in the beta, the death gaze % activation triggers an additional attack similar to what a reflex potion would do. On that note, what would happen if you quaffed a reflex potion as a gorgon?

Here's how it works: it does you base damage unresistably (as in ignores all physical resistance) before anyone can attack.

Are these things explained ingame ? Or it must be understood based on trial an error ? (I haven't unlocked the Gorgon in beta yet)
