5 badge challenge!

Postby Kingdom of One on Thu Jul 04, 2013 5:46 pm

The challenge:
Complete venture cave getting at least the following 5 badges:
Purist
Hoarder
Miser
Warmonger
Faithless

You'll get specialist for free and I managed to get cheeky as well (which isn't as trivial as it sounds).

Proof: Right hand side cropped because finding the right class was half the fun.

I'd be impressed if someone can get Feeling Parched as well (I tried but had to use potions on the boss).
I'd be very impressed if someone can get Ding max! and Unstoppable as well (that was my original plan but it was too hard for me).
I'd be only marginally surprised if it turns out that The Avatar has already done this including vicious token...

At the end of last year we had a little forum game: 'Dungeon of the Day'
You can find the threads under that name (or page 11 and higher).
We randomly choose a dungeon and classes, and you would need to get as many badges as possible for points. Probably there are similar runs.

Searched only short and found this:
viewtopic.php?f=3&t=2416&start=40
Avatar at Rock Garden with every badge apart from Purist. And this in under 5min.

Thanks for the link - I assumed people must have tried something similar before but couldn't find this specific challenge. I doesn't look like anyone did those 5 badges simultaneously before (though I may have missed something). It's the combination of those 5 that makes it really tough. If you drop just one of them then you should be able to get a 9 badge run really easily (on venture cave).

Anyway, I still hope some other people give it a go.
I think you might be surprised at just how pathetic a no-prep, no-shops, no-glyph, no-converting, no-gods character ends up. I know I was.

You're right about the bosses - in fact my strategy was even more scummy than just the boss.

The 7:29 doesn't tell the whole story!
You don't want to know how many attempts it took....

Doesn't sound too hard, just annoying; use a Bloodmage and scum for a weaker boss, then just spike him with potions and blood pools. Some bosses, like Medusa or Tomithy, are pretty pathetic in Venture Cave.

EDIT: could have gotten parched as well if I hadn't chugged all my mana potions ahead of the boss fight. Still had about 12 blood pools and all my health potions left

Oh, nice!
You could clearly get cheeky too if you wanted (using potions).
It's probably not too hard to get both cheeky and parched (though lvl2's can be tough) given what you said about the run.

I didn't think of trying bloodmage - maybe that would have saved me some time!

There's always another way to solve a puzzle in this game...

In case anyone is interested my solution was a tinker.
You get a free secret subdungeon with either:
4-base items - good
free lvl 6 - better
monster zoo - restart

and you can translocate 1 shop item without breaking miser
both the large sword and health pendant seem to be good enough.
