I think it would be better if the placement of objects were sensitive to the native wildlife.

I just got a Corrosive Creeper sitting on my boots.

I could almost see Taurog watching the scene, grinning...

You know that if you pick up each item he gives you right away, they will always spawn on his altar, right?

...and since the surrounding squares were empty, it was easy to assume that the game would be smart enough to spawn the item in one of the empty squares instead of completely randomly.
