Tomithy as the boss? With the Bloodmage? And Mystera in rotation? Piece of cake. Started the boss fight at level 5 and effortlessly torched him without so much as using a fraction of my resources. Probably could have done the boss fight at level 3 right when I found him, since I already had both Mystic Balance and Refreshment by then

Grimms with a Bloodmage without a nice god prep can be dicey so I held off on setting myself arbitrary challenges until I'd found the boss and Fireball. Nice loadout with Smugglers, Slayer Wand, Sword and Shield all offsetting the harder monsters and the Grimm layout challenges.

Anyway, once I'd uncovered the relevant things, found the cracked orb in a sub and grabbed a few mana boosts and MB off Mystera I started on Tomithy at level 3 with a view to clearing the whole map. Nothing too tough with a mismanaged (forgot to grab learning first) switch to Tikki Tooki to finish off the boss at level 4-5 and mop up. Boss went down parched but I ended up using potions to clean up.

Went with super safe preps for today knowing how RNG-screwy Grimm's can be. Well it wasn't necessary, the map was nice and cozy, glyphs were awesome and shop draw was also quite decent (no +Mana item, but thanks to Mystera it wasn't a problem on 'Hard' difficulty). Spiked stuff like crazy, went for (up to) L+5s and swapped over to TT for the mop-up, probably setting high scores in both XP and Piety due to the insane synergy involved (had 4 shots of Learning by the end - go figure). Lots of fun, nice relaxing streak-friendly run! :P

@MTaur, I think Orc Bloodmage is actually a good combination. It's Tier 1 if you graft PISORF onto it, but even if you don't, the sheer melee power Orc presents is very useful for a lot of things! For example, MR% monsters are much easier to melee, and also when blackspace starts to run thin, being able to get the max out of both bars totally rocks.

@Astral, yeah, not givin' up is kinda cool when it works out. Also lets you learn a lot about the game. A bit stressful though, especially in a Daily! :)

Win 3!

I love reading how you pro's interpret the map, after I've played it. It was certainly a lot more sweat for me. Thank goodness the map was somewhat forgiving as I made a couple early mistakes (getting mana burned on my first kill at level 1..doh!)

I went with Mystera right off the bat and stuck with her all the way through. Considered converting to Drac at one point, but figured I could do it later for extra health as I was getting tons of piety that I wasn't using much.

Okay, here is how green I am. I just realized in this dungeon that Bludtopowa is really good because it gets the mana that is in places you can't get to....geez. Sad part is I have done the puzzles in the game where they show that.

Anyway, I killed the boss when I was at level 6, which impressed me at least. :-) I was going to go around and clean up the rest of the dungeon, and did for a couple monsters, then remembered my mis-click death the other day and got paranoid...so ended things early.

I think I really need to read up more on the strategy of which gods to worship at what time. I don't have a good feel for that yet.

@Zazzlegut, I accidentally posted a brag in here so I thought I'd turn it into something useful.

In general:

Glowing Guardian - useful either very early game or very late game.
Jehora Jeheyu - far, far stronger if you get him early. Not recommended late game.
Mystera Annur - great early game for building up piety. Lacks late-game use. Often used as a piety-farm to switch into another god.
Taurog - Usually either worshipped monotheistically or used as a piety farm with the addition of whatever item you want. Generally early game.
Dracul - superb late-game but has a lot of trouble generating early game piety and his signature boon lowers health. Generally picked up after worshipping another god.
Binlor Ironshield - Usually an early game choice. Often used to farm piety and to reveal the secret subdungeon.
Tikki Tooki - excepting a few niche strategies, Tikki is ideally used late-game. As with Dracul, he has a very easy time generating XP late and a very hard time keeping on top of it early.
Earthmother - Probably the most versatile in terms of the best time to pick her up, as she benefits both early and late game a lot. Often very useful early on a suitable map for Imawal, but also good late to pick up bonus XP from the global slow and then a load of spells from Clearances.

Taurog is also pretty noob-friendly, but not necessarily strong overall when you learn how to use other deities. He's a good choice for certain badges: Miser, Warmonger, Specialist. Another thing about Taurog is that he's fairly forgiving of glyph casts, but you shouldn't overdo it. Mostly, combat glyphs that make a huge difference in a single cast rather than needing to be spammed. As long as you're not going for Warmonger, CYDSTEP is definitely ok to cast. Often GETINDARE or WEYTWUT is good to use. Only occasionally is BURNDAYRAZ ok. ENDISWAL can be used to get to the hidden subdungeon, but not much more than that.

Taurog was tempting to me as a new player, but getting better at using the other gods can really help make you better at the game.
