Erk, think I'm coming across all critical when I really don't mean to be - my apologies - don't listen to me, I can't even embed quotes properly :D

WRT Taurog - I thought you were a Gnomes, spells and late game god-chaining combo kinda player when not nudged by the PQI so I didn't see Taurog as an obvious fit for that, though I certainly don't doubt you can use him. I think for me Taurog's biggest problem is the inventory fillup rather than the max mana loss... makes it a lot trickier to work with stuff as you go in longer game scenarios with more nuance.

JJ/Binlor for Rats - JJ is certainly superb on Rats... I find the inventory restrictions of JJ probably hit the Rat harder than most characters (-1 inventory slot, another for Bear Mace, a third for Weytwut, a fourth to get boosts; you might not be in a position to level out of it if you find you get a super-early poison on a tough dungeon... none of these are insurmountable but Binlor is basically pure positives) and think on most maps Binlor is just ballistically crazy good on Rats. Rexx is more of a bother for me than Bleaty. The one map where I'm 100% sure Binlor is better is VHOS. The two where I'm doubtful are Cursed Oasis (where I think I'd go EM) and Ick (where Jehora seems like the best call to me). I think I probably prefer Binlor because magic scares me and punching things to death at very low level is fun (see Taurog ;) ) but there's nothing wrong with JJ :)

Human Monk in Magma Mines

Horrible.
Not only do I dislike the class/race combo, I'm also such a DD veteran that I took a pact before Consensus. Luckily, shops had some pretty nice items which are easy to leverage off with all the extra gold Mines have.

I dislike Monks, but they really are a powerful class. Human is no Orc, but it's still a solid second-place pick. The presence of Glowing Guardian made things quite smooth; could have gone for Enlightenment in the end, but just spent my piety on protection instead to win parched without any conversion. When I found both BURNDAYRAZ and BLUDTUPOWA early, I was disappointed I was already in GG; it's rare to get that combo running early enough for it to work, but it really does make Monk into a good caster ^_^

Shame Lujo hasn't been around lately; he'd probably like today's run.

Mostly just derped around. I farmed piety with Binlor, but it didn't get put to incredibly good use. I did knockback the magic-resist miniboss 3 or 4 times, and that paid off more than anything else piety-wise. For the last boss, I dropped a bunch of fireballs and then switched to Taurog for the sword (not enough piety to get any more).

It was pretty smooth though.

Somehow I entered the Body Pact and still managed to get Enlightenment with a few shots of protection left. No small thanks to piety farm Binlor. I think I was pushing 75% physical resistance by the end...which let me brawled the magic resistance miniboss at level 5/6, and Specialist the Boss rather effortlessly.

All I could say is what a preparation roster today. So many choices in different strategies.

Barf, bad match-up - lots of Poison + Magic damage here, mitigated by a good prep pool.

Really generous setup, nothing too tough. Went Binlor -> GG then used Agnostic's Collar for the Supermonk.

Straight up GG for me, only "used" Binlor's altar after I picked up the Agnostic Collar... 8-)

Picked up Body Pact and that pushed Phys.Res.% to the cap, which made most of the end-game quite effortless.

One thing that went a bit differently than usual is, I found BURNDAYRAZ and BLUDTUPOWA guite early, which had me nuking a couple of high-level monsters (especially that L8 Wraith) w/o joining up. So I went GG only around L5, when blackspace has been mostly squandered away by all that reckless B2P regen-blasting. Which kind of meant that I didn't really see Humility working out so well, and I sort of left it alone until the "fooling around" phase (i.e. just between the "mop up" and "marvel at score" phases... :P ).
