Each square you move, you lose 1 gold. Each time an enemy damages you, you lose that much gold instead of taking damage. Magic armor destroys itself when you have 0 gold left.
That item seems kind of useless to me as it stands.(though I don't know with how much max gold we are going to end up with in the commercial version.)
Considering max gold is 160 (in the freeware version) you end up having 60 gold after buying it. In a normal dungeon run you will likely get about 30 additional gold. So even if you dont have to move much after buying it you can take 90 additional points of damage. A little more than one hit of a boss. And thats only if you didnt buy any other item or made preparations beforehand. For me it seems to do pretty much the same thing as death-protection, wich is much cheaper and more readily available, while limiting you on item and preparation choices. (majorly cutting down the price might help).
