Normal Dungeon
This is the standard game mode. The normal dungeon is created with the following objects:

* 39 of any of the unlocked Monsters. The monster levels are distributed as such: 10x L1, 5x L2, 4x L3, 4x L4, 4x L5, 3x L6, 3x L7, 3x L8, 2x L9 and 1x L10. This grants a total of 149 Experience (just enough for Level 8) to be earned before confronting the boss, unless the various ways of gaining bonus experience is utilised.
* 3 each of the following items: Health Powerup, Mana Powerup, Attack Powerup, Health Potion and Mana Potion. A Thief will cause 4 of each to be created.
* 10 piles of gold, randomly containing 1 to 3 gold each. A Thief will have 3 extra piles of gold spawned for them. An additional pile of gold will also be created for every 2 Classes that complete the Snake Pit Challenge. This creates a maximum of 19 piles of gold, and 22 for Thieves.
* 3 Shops. A Tinker will cause 6 more shops to be created, and an extra shop will appear for every 3 Classes that complete the Factory Challenge. This creates a maximum of 9 shops, and 15 for Tinkers.
* 5 Glyphs. Both Thief and Wizard will cause an extra Glyph to be spawned. The starting Glyph placed at the feet of certain classes does not count towards the 5. No two Glyphs will be the same, but one of them will always be BURNDAYRAZ. Glyphs may also appear for sale in shops, once their rank has been achieved.
* 3 Altars, each randomly assigned to one of the 10 Gods. No two altars will be to the same God.

Ranked
Ranked is unlocked when a player completes the normal dungeon with all standard classes. Ranked is otherwise like a normal dungeon except that monsters have 20% more Attack and Health and scores may be submitted online.

Challenge dungeons
The remaining 4 types are challenge dungeons, having very specific enemy types and unique appearances. Every challenge dungeon has two bosses instead of one. There are also four non-boss enemy types that only appear in these challenge dungeons.

Snake pit
Populated by naga, serpents and gorgons. Players will fight Nidhogg and Medusa.
Every 2 Classes that complete this challenge will cause an extra pile of gold to be spawned in the dungeons.

Library
Populated by warlocks, dragonspawn and imps. Players will fight Aequitas and the Matron of Flame.
Every Class that completes this challenge will increase the Item Rank Limit for shops by 1.

Crypt
Populated by zombies, wraiths and vampires. Players will fight the Tormented One and Frank the Zombie.
Every Class that completes this challenge will increase the maximum amount of gold you can carry by 5.

Factory
Populated by meat men, animated armour and golems. Players will fight Iron Man and Super Meat Man.
Every 3 Classes that complete this challenge will cause an extra shop to be spawned in the dungeons.

Monster Abilities
*Physical resist - The enemy takes this much less damage from your melee attacks, unless you have the Magical attack ability.
*Magical resist - The enemy takes this much less damage from the BURNDAYRAZ glyph, and also from your melee if you have the Magical attack ability. They also have this much chance of resisting targetted Glyph spells.
*First strike - The enemy will attack you first in a melee battle no matter the circumstances. The only exception is for Assassins using their SWIFT HAND ability to instantly kill a lower levelled monster.
*Undead - The enemy is immune to the effects of the APHEELSIK Glyph. Note that the Venom Blade and Gorgons can still poison Undead with their melee attack.
*Magical attack - The melee attack of this enemy causes magic damage, and is thus resisted by Magical resist rather than Physical resist. A Berserker, for instance, with 50% Magical Resist would tend to take less damage from an enemy with Magical attack than from one that does not.
*Poison attack - The melee attack of this enemy will inflict Poison status on you, unless you are immune to Poison. Poison prevents you from regenerating your health whilst uncovering unexplored areas. (Note for all Transmuters: while you still can be poisoned, the effect of poison will have no effect on your health regeneration since transmuters cannot regenerate health by exploring anyway.)
*Mana burn - The melee attack of this enemy will inflict Mana Burn status on you, unless you are immune to Mana Burn. Mana Burn prevents you from regenerating your mana whilst uncovering unexplored areas.
*Death gaze - If the enemy attacks you with melee whilst your HP is below the indicated percentage of your Max HP, then it will attempt to instantly kill you via petrification. Death Protection can help prevent this. It has no effect if your HP is equal to or above the listed percentage before the melee attack is initiated.
*Blinks - Upon receiving damage, even from a spell, the enemy will warp to a random unobstructed spot on the map. If this is an unexplored region, you may find it difficult to reach the enemy again before it can regenerate all its lost health.
*Weaken attack - The melee attack of this enemy will reduce your Max HP and Base Damage by 1 each, down to a minimum of 1. This only takes effect if the enemy's attack causes damage to you. The decrease in Health and Damage is permanent.
*Life steal - When you uncover the tile this enemy is standing, then they will absorb health from you until you are brought below a specific percentage of your Max HP. For instance, 40% Life Steal would absorb health from you until you're brought to 60% of your Max HP or below. This can only be done once when you uncover their tile.
*Death protection - Every hit that would normally kill the enemy will instead leave them with 1 HP remaining. Enemies can have multiple levels of Death protection, with each level protecting from one hit. It is possible to remove two levels of Death protection at once via the Sorcerer's MANA SHIELD ability.

Skills
*Hand to Hand - attack damage reduced by 50%
*Diamond Body - 50% physical and magical resistance
*Discipline - health regeneration rate doubled

General Strategy
In general, your initial strategy should be to kill low level monsters, seeking out anything which can mitigate your initial attack penalty; level 1 meat men will do 0 damage to you. Any shop items which reduce damage are of special interest to monks. A platemail or mage plate will bring armor up to an insane 70%.

After the first few levels, monks should seek out higher level enemies with low damage and high health. Because of monks' faster healing and high armor, they can often refill health via exploring without the monsters having enough time to do the same.

Glyphs of special interest to Monks are:
*Bysseps - Mitigates damage penalty
*Halpmeh - High armor makes health more valuable
*Lemmisi - Useful to avoid exploring accessible areas of the dungeon prematurely, and to heal between attacks against some bosses. Fast regeneration makes this especially effective.

Race and Deity Choices
Playing as a human to compensate for the hand to hand penalty is typically the best choice. Attack damage bonuses have a higher proportional effect for monks due to the lower initial damage.

Monks are incredibly effective fighters once their attack penalty is canceled out, but the value of their health can make sacrificing Halpmeh and Lemmisi too painful to make Taurog a strong choice. The Pactmaker is an excellent choice for any class, Monks included. A free potion from Tikki Tooki is helpful despite Monk's poor ability at achieving one shot kills.

Poison Monk Strategy
Because of the monk's resistance, it has a heightened ability to survive first attacks. This means you can, upon finding APHEELSIK, wear down higher level monsters with up to twice as much attack as other characters! Using your spare mana for BURNDAYRAZ (or BYSSEPS or CYDESTEPP) plus taking advantage of your double HP regeneration you can level catapult in greater comfort than other classes.

Challenge Modes
Crypt
Rather easy, even without Glowing Guardian, just make sure you get HALPMEH, otherwise it's a torture (you won't need fireballs though). When you reach level 3-4 you can easily take on enemies 2-4 levels above you, leaving many enemies for midfight leveling. You should also leave some tiles unexplored. Due to the Monks high defence, tile regeneration is often enough to get in a few more hits on bosses, making them even easier to kill.

If you manage you health, mana and xp cleverly you'll have both bosses deafeated before coming near level 9. First take on the tormented one. He may have insane defense, but you'll outlast him with HALPMEH (and maybe a level up). Same goes for Frank: attack, heal, level up if needed and he shouldn't last for too long. You can do that one without using a single potion.

Library
After a few levels you can easily defeat Dragonspawns 2-3 levels above you with fast regeneration. Having HALPMEH and/or LEMMISI will make things even easier. If neither of those is found, you can use fireballs to accumulate damage.

On Level 7 you will be able to defeat the Matron of Flame without even touching your potions (assumed, you have a few tiles to regenerate). Afterwards Aequitas won't be much of a challenge either.

Factory
Once you have reached level 3-4, the combination of high armor and fast regeneration should make it fairly easy to kill higher level animated armors. Attack the highest level animated armor you can that cannot kill you in one hit. The assistance of BURNDAYRAZ will make this more efficient, though HALPMEH or LEMMISI are a reasonable substitutes.

Super Meat man is rather easy to defeat with monk, especially if you have bought the tower shield or platemail. Try to be at level 8 or higher before fighting the bosses. It should be possible to heal (via some mixture of HALPMEH, LEMMISI, and exploring) faster than Super Meat man can damage you.

The Iron Man doesn't have much health, so killing him should be fairly easy. You should still have most or all of your potions at this point, but you may want to time this fight to enable you to level up in the middle of it to assist further.

*Dexterous: first strike in combat regardless of level
*Evasive: monsters miss you 20% of the time
*Dangerous: -5 health per level, +50% damage.

General Strategy
Use your first strike, fireballs and your enhanced evasion to take on high level monsters early on and preserve your potions for boss battles. Be cautious though, since monsters with first strike still have priority, no matter the level.

Race and Deity Choices
Dwarf is an obvious choice for a Rogue to make up for his lack of health (otherwise stronger opponents will wipe the floor with you). If you're cocky, Human, Gnome and Orc are still solid choices.

Due to his enhanced evasion, the Rogue can make pretty good use of Tikki Tooki. If gotten soon enough, your dodge rate will be at around 50%, once you're facing the bosses. If you don't want to depend on luck so much, you can still go with The Pactmaker or another deity. Be careful with the latter though: taking The Pactmaker at level 1 will usually cause instant death because of the -5 penalty to your Max Health (also the -5 to your base damage will usually destroy your melee capability).

Challenge Modes
Snake Pit
Not that much of a challenge here. Take on high level Serpents and Nagas with fireballs and melee attacks to level up. Be careful with gorgons, since they have First Attack themselves and will always attack you first in melee, no matter your level. Tikki Tooki's ability is helpful but not necessary. Use your piled up potions and midfight level ups to take on bosses and take care to not get petrified or poisoned.

Crypt
This can be a little annoying, but not too hard. If you get the Glowing Guardian, it will be pretty easy. Without him it can get a bit tricky to beat the bosses. Just make sure to fastly hit level 7, so you have enough spare monsters to level up midfight. First take on the Tormented One, as he is the bigger pest. Attack him, until you're almost dead, level up and finish him off (use Mana Potions or another level up, if needed/possible). Afterwards Frank can be outstalled with Potions. Always have an eye on your HP, since they deplete relatively fast.

Library
Basically the same as in the Snake Pit. Difference is, that there is nobody to poison, petrify, weaken or first strike you. With fireballs you can easily take on Dragonspawns two levels above you. Imps are easy to battle, too, but can often be annoying, because of Blink. You have to be careful with the bosses though, since they are a little stronger, than in the Pit. Enough potions and/or magic armor can help here.

ETSD: /* Challenge Modes */

Skills
*Poisoned Blade - Begin with the APHEELSIK glyph
*Swift hand - Able to kill any enemy of lower level in one hit
*Light foot - First strike against enemies that have had all of the surrounding tiles explored

General Strategy
In general, the assassin is most effective if it is leveled up quickly, as it can clean up remaining monsters quite easily. You should be able to consistently reach level 10 by the time the map is cleared.

If you have fireball, find a high level enemy with very little health such as a Gorgon, cast poison on it, and then explore to regenerate mana for fireballs until it is dead. Otherwise, find a high level monster that is unable to kill you in one hit, and beat it in a similar way but with normal attacks. CYDTEPP can be used with the mana that you are regenerating to score additional attacks. If you are using magic exclusively while doing this, BLUDTUPOWA can be used to allow for faster mana regeneration rate. If all of your paths of exploration are blocked and you have 5 mana, kill as many of the units that are blocking paths as possible, and then recast poison on the unit that you are trying to kill

At the beginning of the game, attempt to kill a level 2 enemy, since this will reduce the number of enemies that you have to kill to reach the second level, and thus leave more targets for later. After level 1 try to attack high level enemies even if doing so will require a potion or a lot of exploring, since doing so will cause you to be a higher level than most enemies and leave you with more targets to kill later on.

Keep track of how much experience you can gain from your collection of lower level enemies that you are leaving untouched, and when in a fight with a strong enemy and especially with the boss, see if you are able to level up in the middle of a fight by killing these low level enemies and, if possible, how many times you can level up. Try to save some of these monsters for the boss fight.

When picking lower level targets to destroy for experience, try to choose those that are blocking the way to unexplored area to maximize your exploring potential later.

Begin to attack the boss at about level 7 and level up whenever you need to heal in the middle of the fight from the enemies that you have kept remaining until you are level 9 or 10.

Race and Deity Choices
Playing as an Orc gives you additional experience on demand, and allows you to level up faster. Try to save glyphs that you intend to convert to experience until the conversion will aid in leveling up in the middle of a fight.
Playing as a Dwarf allows you to sustain more damage, which means that stronger enemies will not kill you in a single hit as easily.
Playing as a Human will give you more attack with each hit, so you can finish the long poison battles faster or are able to kill units in a single hit with first strike more easily.

The Pactmaker gives additional experience for every kill, which is very useful when trying to level up in the middle of a battle from existing lower level units and also allows you to level up faster.
Tikki Tooki will be pleased with assassins quite often for the displays of skill of killing lower level enemies. Dodge chance is useful in making long fights work to your advantage.
Jehora Jeheyu will cause you to gain more attack and maximum health whenever you deal or receive damage, which happens a lot if you are partaking in long poison battles. Note that you will be unable to use CYDSTEPP and GETINDARE glyphs unless you're prepared to deal with Mana Burn.
Taurog is good if you follow him early, but you will be unable to rely on poison. Instead you will likely be focusing on power kills with first strike or using levelups to heal you.

Challenge Modes
Snake Pit
This is not much of a challenge. Start off by killing Gorgons 1-3 levels above you to quickly reach level 7. Make sure, that there are still enough tiles for regeneration and begin attacking Medusa. Be careful, since you need to have 100% health (or protection) to not get petrified. There should be enough monsters around to level up midfight for a quick heal. If needed use a few potions. Afterwards Nidhogg can be outlasted with your remaining potions and unused tiles (HALPMEH can be a big help here, too).

It doesn't matter so much here, which race or deity you take here. Orc, Human or Gnome all have their benefits, but none of them essential. For as gods I would think about taking Binlor, Earthmother or Glowing Guardian, due to their Petrification/Poison immunity, making Medusa and Nidhogg easier to kill.

Crypt
Undead units are immune to poison, so you will have to manage without it. Use midfight levelups whenever possible to take on the highest level enemies. Vampires are probably going to be your main targets since they have relatively low maximum health. Be wary of manaburns. If you are following Tikki Tooki, whenever you kill an enemy without taking damage you will be cured of mana burn, which is fairly easy to do as an assassin. A couple fireballs followed by a first strike attack or a CYSTEPP attack will be ideal for taking on strong enemies.

Library
The bosses in this stage can get annoying due to their high strenght. Level up as fast as possible with high level monsters, using poison and tile regeneration. Be sure to keep useless Glyphs for Exp conversion (assumed you play as an Orc), they will be needed later.

Start attacking the Matron of Flame on level 7 and use the remaining tiles and midfight level ups for regeneration(if you have HALPMEH or CYDSTEPP it will make things a LOT easier). Afterwards you should be Level 8-9 (or maybe even 10). If you didn't use any potions so far, you should have no problem outlasting Aequitas.

Factory
Use fireball (and BLUDTOPOWA if you have it) to kill the highest level animated armour that you can find to get you ideally from level 1 to 6 in a single kill. Also, waste any other animated armour's protection from death without actually killing them whenever possible in order to leave them as potential targets for experience later. Be careful to not overexplore because you will likely want to poison Super Meat Man and heal from the black while fighting him. The Iron Man has a 75% chance to block poison when you cast it on him, so you can use it repeatedly on him until it works or try to beat him without it. When fighting him while he is poisoned, do not expect to be able to recast poison on him after attacking somebody else as it will probably fail. HALPMEH will be the ideal use of magic when fighting him.

ETSD: /* The Crypt */

The Factory

*Good Golly - 200% physical damage to undead
Priests are a fairly simple class to use. Just hit the boss at a high enough level with enough health potions.

Priests can (and should) hit high level undead early.

Race And Deity Choices
Halfling is perhaps the most obvious choice of race for a priest, allowing for, at a minimum, 10 health potions in a standard game. This is especially useful for challenge dungeons. For halflings, carrying glyphs or leaving them on the ground until you actually need to convert them is a good idea. Humans are another solid choice, being able to use the attack bonus to take advantage of higher max health. Dwarves would potentially have another 6/level max health at their disposal, making it easier to take on slightly tougher enemies early on. In both cases, hitting high level undead as early as possible without wasting potions is a good idea.

Tikki Tooki's free health potion is particularly useful for priests and he can help you clear poison and mana burn if you leave a few level ones around; Golden Guardian obviously helps as you should be killing undead early and easily. Worshipping Dracul is forbidden for this class.

Challenge Modes
Snake Pit
Go halfling to make both bosses much easier, hit gorgons early on. Especially easy to take down Medusa early if you have a decent attack, as your potions will always make you non-petrifiable.

Crypt
Double physical damage against undead makes this very easy. Finding ways (Golden Guardian, Taurog, going human, fine sword etc.) of increasing your damage will make this even easier.

Library
Halfling makes everything easier, as usual, especially absorbing Aequitas' high damage. Fireballing high-level imps out of the way helps things along.

Factory
Priest is solid at dealing with both of the low damage bosses, especially as a halfling (each potion offers you 2-3 extra hits on meat man/iron man). Usual ideas for factory (fireball high level animated armours, try to keep some potions back for the bosses) apply.

*Holy shield - 25% physical resistance

General Strategy
The Paladins unique ability is his instant access to HALPMEH, which should be used when exploring dungeons with him. Pair it with APHEELSIK (if possible) an you won't have many problems beating strong foes (especially the physical attacking ones). If you have (low level) undead monsters in the dungeons keep them untouched until you really need a heal, which will come in handy once in a while. Especially the Crypt will be a breeze due to this ability.

Race and Deity Choices
Any race will work for the Paladin. It's up to your decision, if you want to enhance his strength, endurance or magical capabilities (Human, Elf and Dwarf all work really well) or if you want some extra exp for midfight leveling (Orc is always useful).

Same goes for the deities. Either Jehora (just be careful with the instant Mana Burn) or The Pactmaker will be great. Tikki Tooki always is decent and if you care about immunities take Glowing Guardian or Binlor/Earthmother.

Challenge Modes
Snake Pit
HALPMEH is a huge help here, since it will make fighting Serpents really easy. Level up by slaying higher level Serpents and Gorgons until you're around level 7. Take Binlor or the Earthmother, if you can, to get a helpful Death Gaze immunity. It's useful but not essential.

Start attacking the Jormungandr until you're out of Health and Mana. Afterwards use a level up for regeneration and the big serpent won't have long to live anymore. If you have Death Gaze immunity, Medusa will be really easy. Otherwise just make sure that your Health is at 100% and you just outlast her (use Potions if needed).

Crypt
HALPMEH will help you to defeat monsters of higher levels. This is the key as it allows you to leave lower level monsters alive. Once you are ready to take on the boss monsters you will have a plethora of low level one hit kill monsters that will refill your health. Using this strategy, it is possible to defeat the entire dungeon without using a single health potion.

The serpent is one of the monsters that roams the Desktop Dungeons. It is unlocked by clearing the game as a Priest, and can poison its enemies, preventing regeneration. The boss version of the serpent is Jormungandr. Serpents are also found in the Snake Pit side dungeon.
*Damage: 100%
Strategies
Serpents have only average statistics, and poison is healed upon gaining a level, making serpents a great target for lower-level players. However, serpents of equal level should be avoided unless you have the HALPMEH glyph to cure the poison from the fight. If you can't avoid being poisoned, you can use a health potion to cure the poison, or attempt to gain a level. If a class does not regenerate health normally, they can freely attack serpents without worry.

Boss info
Jormungandr doesn't have any remarkable traits to set him aside from the other bosses, and unless using APHEELSIK, the poison won't matter too much in the long run, so Jormungandr is one of the few bosses it's fairly safe to go toe-to-toe with. It's still as strong as your usual boss, so if you need to weaken it first, by all means do so, but don't bother attacking Jormungandr at melee until you're confident you can win without needing to regenerate.

Gods work similarly to other roguelike games, each giving themed bonuses and penalties.
No class begins with a religion, and must instead find an altar. Each dungeon has three altars, each assigned to a random unique god.
Stepping on the altar will display a brief flavor text description, and the option to begin worship if you have not selected one yet.
Please note that due to the recent changes to how gods work, this page is very much a WIP.

The Crypt
Undead units are immune to poison, so you will have to manage without it. Use midfight levelups whenever possible to take on the highest level enemies. Vampires are probably going to be your main targets since they have relatively low maximum health. Be wary of manaburns. If you are following Tikki Tooki, whenever you kill an enemy without taking damage you will be cured of mana burn, which is fairly easy to do as an assassin. A couple fireballs followed by a first strike attack or a CYSTEPP attack will be ideal for taking on strong enemies.

The Factory

Skills
*Essence Transit - Every mana point spent regenerates 2 health
*Arcane Knowledge - Starting mana increased by 5
*Mana Shield - Deals 1 damage per level whenever opponent hits you

General Strategy
This class offers a surprisingly effective combination of hand-to-hand combat and spell casting. The healing ability of the Sorcerer's spells makes it possible to tackle monsters of a higher level than you, much like the Assassin strategy. You should usually take a swing at a monster before fireballing it to heal yourself - just beware mana burn!

Race and Deity Choices
Taking Human, Elf, or Gnome is an option, as the healing power of his spells lets you stay in combat longer, making human a good choice. Because you will be casting spells (sometimes just to heal), Elf and Gnome are good choices as well.

When using the power leveling strategy, consider Pactmaker for the extra xp from monsters. Glowing Guardian is especially good in the crypt as you will be doing hand-to-hand combat with this character. Taking Mystera Annur will severely limit the capabilities of this character, and is not recommended. Binlor and Tikki Tooki are always solid choices, so is Jehora, unless you're depending on CYDSTEPP.

Challenge Modes
Snake Pit
Nothing special here. Bring down high level enemies as soon as possible, while balancing your attacks between physical attacks and fireballs, to heal yourself effectively. Avoid being poisoned or weakened. Use midfight leveling to make Medusa easier to handle so you can preserve your potions for Nidhogg.

Library
Not that difficult. Since there is nothing to poison or weaken you, you can easily take on higher level Dragon Spawns and Warlocks. Just attack until you're on the brink of death and then use fireballs to heal yourself again. Just make sure to conserve some potions for the bosses and have a level up or two midfight..

Factory
The Sorcerer has a special advantage against animated armor. Each time the sorcerer attacks one their Mana Shield ability will remove an additional rank of death prot. from the animated armor. Consider trying a Dwarf so that you can survive hits from higher-leveled armors sooner.

Factory
<br>Once you have reached level 3-4, the combination of high armor and fast regeneration should make it fairly easy to kill higher level animated armors.

It should be possible to heal (via some mixture of Halpmeh, Limmisi, and exploring) faster than Super Meat man can damage you.

Generally, boss creatures can be defeated between level 7 and 8 using Mystera Annur (unload all but one of your fireballs on the boss, use last fireball to kill a low level creature in one hit to level up, then use all your potions on level 8 fireballs at the boss).
*Good Drink - Health potions 100% effective
*Good Golly - 200% physical damage to undead

General Strategy

Snake Pit: Go halfling to make both bosses much easier, hit gorgons early on. Especially easy to take down Medusa early if you have a decent attack, as your potions will always make you non-petrifiable.

The Crypt: Double physical damage against undead makes this very easy. Finding ways (Golden Guardian, Taurog, going human, fine sword etc.) of increasing your damage will make this even easier.

The Library: Halfling makes everything easier, as usual, especially absorbing Aequitas' high damage. Fireballing high-level imps out of the way helps things along.

The Factory: Priest is solid at dealing with both of the low damage bosses, especially as a halfling (each potion offers you 2-3 extra hits on meat man/iron man). Usual ideas for factory (fireball high level animated armours, try to keep some potions back for the bosses) apply.
Skills
*Good Health - +2 health gain per level
*Good Drink - Health potions 100% effective
*Good Golly - 200% physical damage to undead

General Strategy
