Is their any plans to bring multiplayer to DD?
Does the artist for the character portraits have a blog?

Is their any plans to bring multiplayer to DD?

We've thought about it, but it's not really feasible with the game as it currently stands. There are probably better frameworks in which we could create more interesting multiplayer interactions than DD's ruleset. We do want to add community features though, but that depends on development time at this point.

What are some new glyphs you guys have come up with?

We've actually focused on redesigning some of the freeware's weaker glyphs so that they're more useful than before, in the hopes that players will be motivated to use them more often. This old QCF blog post explains a few of the changes we've made already.

Aside from that, we're focusing on consumable items (such as wands and charms) that offer limited spell charges or once-off effects -- scrolls which can summon shops, lodestones that "charge up" on extra mana, "monster whistles", even potions with various effects. We've found that these are much better for game balance than adding more re-castable glyphs, and they give characters like the Berserker a way to use magic effectively too (while elegantly sidestepping some god wrath).

We have an in-house quick and dirty editor that we use to build sub-dungeons. There's a chance we might be able to polish it up and turn it into a real editor, but it would require a ton of work to make it safe for public consumption.

It may be making a return in a very limited capacity at some point, a slot here or there, but that's not something we've thought about at all. We're completely amazed at how fast they went!

Some odd questions.

Will their be more outdoor levels? (forests,jungles,deserts)
The thief seemed a tad overpowered to me in the freeware version. Any plans to change that?

Yes. We've got at least two of those pencilled in already, possibly a few more. The new tilesets are a really nice way to inject a lot of variety into the game.

The thief seemed a tad overpowered to me in the freeware version. Any plans to change that?

The Thief is a good all-round character. As far as I know there haven't been any balance changes to that class for a while now. Of all the 12 initial classes, the one we've messed with the most is the Wizard.

Something else relevant here is that character balance has had another wrinkle added to it with the Inventory: Every character has 6 slots, but they come in unique combinations of physical and magical (or both) slots. The Wizard can only carry one physical item, but can carry more glyphs than anyone else. That ends up making quite a difference in the mid to late game as players have to start deciding what they want to do with the items they have available.

Do you plan on doing anything audio wise? Or will their just be the boss encounter sound and what not?
Will players be able to share their highest gauntlet level runs?
Are you making a serious or humorous campaign mode?
Will we see any more character portraits before the beta?
