7 weakenings already screws over a Monk (in fact, even one hit of weakening is enough to completely cripple a 1st level Monk), but by having a wider range of possible debuffs the probability that JJ will stack any one to the point at which he absolutely cripples you is vastly reduced,

I really never ever had serious problems with JJ's punishments. I even sometimes went for the Avatar stragiht away, and hat way I could convert out later. What's up with people being so worried about 3 or 4 Weakenings or Corrosions? Mana Burn is pretty temporary, So is Health Drain, and I prep Martyr Wraps all the time and run around with a stack of corrosion and only really notice it in Gaan'Telet where the stack gets huge...

You guys must be doing only purist runs. Between STR, Reflex and Slayer wand, I can't remember the last time I've had any problems at early levels. Also, between platemail and all the goodies in the game ATM, I don't even mind blowing a potion to get rid of status ailments. Heck, in the Gaan'Telet runs, I regularly blow my Health potions to deal with patches or the snakes just to save inventory space.

Although, patches really should have a proper log, somewhere in the piety section. Keeping track of the beneficial effects is really annoying.

And back to JJ's punishments, I can see it being a problem without preps or for newbies, but for me at least JJ's problems were elsewhere.

While using preps to play the game is nice and all, I'm more often doing purist runs or runs with a low count of preps nowadays just to be forced to make more decisions during play and thus learn more about the way the game works.
In this regard, JJ is really much more difficult to worship than the other gods:
The difference in difficulty between purist und non-purist runs for other gods is less steep by far in my experience.
Which brings us to the old question:
Should the game be balanced around purist runs or around preps?

Seriously, in the final build there ought to be a joke about how many versions the Transmuter has gone through.

The Transmuter changes stuff all the time, and his own class traits don't seem to be an exception. :P

He'll come right some day ...

I actually find it strange that it's the Transmuter of all classes that has the most revamps.

I figured it would be either the Bloodmage or the Vampire, which had a few but I don't think as many as the Transmuter did!
