Edit- Completed as Sorc, to be honest it might just be the fact that I need so much preps to take it on, so I need to do tons of gold farming bewteen runs so it just feels harder.
JJ Rogue might be a fairly good choice if that's your trouble - Weytwut allows you to first strike goblins, bonus HP to two-shot higher-level ones and the resist-lowering/first-strike combo is fantastic for the bosses (you two-shot the MR one, then can insta-kill the PR one) and any wraiths/goos. Also, Rogue with Strength potion will let you get a very solid first kill.
Just got my Magma Mines warmonger (and specialist) badge with the JJ rogue. Prepped midas gloves, sword and transmutation scroll, found a trisword, pendant of health, badge of courage and tower shield. I'd probably prep Dwarven Gauntlets given the choice (+2HP/level is a big deal for pipping a non-dwarf/non-alch-scroll rogue to the 100 mark where you can reliably take on one of the minor bosses). Definitely prep a reflex potion, since that'll let you one-shot the Magic Res boss. Prep a strength potion and you can usually get a level 3-4 minotaur as your first kill. Take one HP boost straight after dealing with punishments (normally for a warmonger rogue I'd say you can mostly ignore petition but getting corrosion up is very bad with the bosses on this one unless you've got alchemist scroll). Convert glyphs on sight as Orc/Dwarf, leave a few low-level goblins around to trigger dodge potion if you need it.
Anyway, one of the trickiest badges in the non-vicious game I think (GG could get Warmonger but not Specialist, Taurog might be doable with Whuggarbl)...
