Sadly enough, none of our more “vocal” community members found the Naga Cauldron last week (cue innocuous whistling), so presumably not enough people were impressed enough by the Magefist rumours to investigate deeply enough

I normally don't make comments this snarky, but with a statement like that you really have it coming:

Wouldn't it be nice if I could actually play the game so I could find and comment on these things?

Edit: This version is even worse for me. I'm just getting Unity crashes and I don't even make it to the login screen. Clearing my cache doesn't help. I am using Firefox.

It's pretty clear that it's a memory load issue. If your machine isn't doing a hell of a lot, then I can't help much, beyond people submitting that they've been able to get it running in Opera (maybe that's less crazy with memory restrictions). I'm able to make the game run worse in Chrome, losing textures and eventually crash as I open up more tabs on one of our work machines.

There's a shiny new bug with weeks of research behind it on the Unity bug tracker now. So we'll see where this goes from here.

That said, it was pretty funny how nobody really mentioned the cauldron ;)

What is this? A naga cauldron? What? Where? If we haven't found it, it can't be THAT obvious right? Unless you have to have Mage Fist in your inventory.

I've closed all other tabs and I have nothing intensive running the background. When the error first occurred I had some artifacts from my other tabs so after clearing my cache I tried loading the game with all other tabs closed, to no avail.

What's interesting is that this has gotten progressively worse over the last few weeks. It started with some weird texture behavior in-game, then it became unstable and crashed every so often, then it became really unstable and crashed almost instantly, and now it won't even load.

Hmm, new Mage Fist still doesnt impress me. It gives the enemy instantly full burning. But I mostly use fireball to kill higher level monsters... so the burning is not that much and they instantly kill me :(

But Cauldron? I finished Naga City after the last patch but did not see anything... maybe you really need the mage fist! Will try tomorrow :)

I would rather not have Mage Fist than have Mage Fist. The penalty is too cruel to justify almost any gain. Maybe immunity to poison and mana burn, +8 to fireball damage and 25% resist all. Okay, a bit overstated, but Counter: Fireball is the harshest monster attribute, and giving everything it is ridiculous.

Just throwing this out there: what if the Mage Fist slowed the target in addition to dealing the extra damage? This would mean consecutive fireballs wouldn't trigger the retaliation, and it wouldn't overshadow WEYTWUT (as most "slow on fireball" suggestions would) since that glyph would synergize with the combo to avoid the first retaliation. This might be a little too over the top, though.

Maybe immunity to poison and mana burn, +8 to fireball damage and 25% resist all.

For 25% resist-all and mana burn immunity rolled into one item, I'd gladly play without fireballs altogether. And for a total of 12 damage per level on fireballs, I only need the one "finisher" for the glyph to be entirely worthwhile.

You get the point. Counter: Fireball is AWFUL!

Any leads on the cauldron?

I've played twice through with Mage Fist and haven't seen anything fancy or unlockable yet. I've opened one bonus subdungeon, but it was just gold. I'll keep looking; maybe next I'll kill a naga with a mage fisted fireball.

Mage Fist leads to a really different game. I'm not convinced that the new version sucks, but it definitely makes the familiar, straightforward way of turning mana into damage very different. It seems to have a weird dual role now as a big finisher at low levels, then at high levels you can Fireball, melee for the bonus burning damage, then Fireball again for a finishing unretaliatable fireball. I'm not convinced that the effect is worth giving up a Fine Sword prep for. It almost feels like it should be the underpinning of a new glyph or class.
