Documenting Every Subdungeon

I've been working on a comprehensive listing of every subdungeon in the game. It's a long list, so I'm going to post this as a work-in-progress and anyone can contribute accordingly.

I'm not going by memory here, as the devs already silently removed/reworked subdungeons in the past. If you're going to contribute here you absolutely must confirm that you saw the subdungeon, where you saw it, and what effects it has. Please try to be as detailed as possible. Also if you have any corrections or addendums to the information I've provided here please feel free to post regarding them.

IMPORTANT: This is not a balance discussion thread, that will come after everything has been thoroughly documented.


Name: Graveyard
Appears in: center
Explored?: fully explored
Effect: 5 gold piles, spawns a level 5 zombie that drops elven boots

Name: Sir Thrawn
Appears in: center
Explored?: unexplored
Effect: Sir Thrawn (Vampire) spawns in, seals the exit, and re-shrouds the dungeon, effectively allowing you to explore it twice.

Name: Exploding Signpost
Appears in: center, north
Explored?: unexplored
Effect: contains bloodstains, barbing bushes, and an exploding signpost. The signpost reduces you to 1 HP and then kicks out a compression scroll and schadenfreude potion.

Name: Hitball
Appears in: center, west
Explored?: partially
Effect: enter a pit-fight against progressively more powerful opponents (scaled to your current level). The first opponent gives you 5 gold and a health potion, the second gives you 10 gold and a mana potion, and the third gives you 15 gold and a reflex potion.

Name: Legend of the Signpost Gorgon
Appears in: center

Effect: 5x5 unexplored room containing four piles of gold and the Gorgward (immunity to death gaze, 18 gold, 50 CP, small item)

Name: Goo Potion
Appears in: center, north
Explored?: unexplored
Effect: small 5x5 unexplored area containing a level 5 goo blob who drops a health potion when killed.

Name: Djinni Potion
Appears in: center, north
Explored?: unexplored
Effect: small 5x5 unexplored area containing a level 5 djinni who drops a mana potion when killed.

Name: Ying Yang
Appears in: center
Explored?: fully explored
Effect: contains Ying and Yang, level 8 monsters. If they are not killed in immediate succession they will respawn. When both are truly slain, they will drop Ying and Yang's sword, each a small item granting +3 base attack that can be consumed for a single-use death protection (15 GP, 35 CP).

Name: Sapphire Helmet
Appears in: center
Explored?: unexplored
Effect: contains a signpost describing the Sapphire Knight, 3 gold piles, and the Dented Helm, which is a large item that grants +1 MP and +1 base attack (18 GP, 30 CP)

Name: Edible Adversaries
Appears in: center
Explored?: unexplored
Effect: 5x5 unexplored area containing 3 gold piles, a signpost about Meatmen, and a level 1 Meatman. When killed, the Meatman drops "Nom Nom", a consumable large item that increases health bonus by 1 permanently (identical to picking up a health booster) but poisons you (18 gold, 20 CP).

Name: Misplaced Cutlery
Appears in: center
Explored?: unexplored
Effect: 5x5 room containing five gold piles, three spoons, and a signpost describing Gaan-Telet.

Name: Zombie Money
Appears in: north
Explored?: unexplored
Effect: massive chamber, but only about half is accessible without revealing magic. At the far end of a narrow hallway is a pile of gold. When picked up, five zombies of equal level to yourself appear and block the way out.

Name: Potion Trade
Appears in: north
Explored?: unexplored
Effect: 5x5 chamber containing a Sorcerer who will give you two healing potions in exchange for one mana potion.

Name: Teeth Teeth Teeth
Appears in: north
Explored?: unexplored
Effect: 5x5 room containing five gold piles and a strange amulet. When the amulet is picked up, the room changes and a level 9 and level 1 thrall appear.

Name: Jadetooth
Appears in: north
Explored?: partially
Effect: large room containing Jadetooth the level 7 Berserker (42 damage, 90 HP, retaliates fireball, berserks at 50%, death protection). When killed, Jadetooth drops a powerful potion that increases and fully restores max health and max mana.

Name: Serpent Dungeon
Appears in: north
Explored?: no
Effect: contains five gold piles and a level 6 serpant. When killed, the serpent drops a fortitude tonic.

Name: Shade Transformation
Appears in: north
Explored?: unexplored
Effect: contains five gold piles and a level 5 "shade" (looks like a palette swapped warlock; 25 damage, 54 HP, retaliates fireball, and revives). When killed, the shade transforms into a djinni with identical abilities and stats. When that is killed, he drops a mana potion.

Name: Foolish Imp
Appears in: north
Explored?: unexplored
Effect: 5x5 room containing five gold piles and a level 9 imp. When killed, the imp drops a mana potion. A sign briefly talks about the foolish decisions of the northern empire.

Name: Blood Fountain
Appears in: East
Explored?: explored
Effect: A fountain in the midle of a 5X5 square. If you drink from it you will be granted 5% Sanguine

Name: El Potion Loco
Appears in: North
Explored?: explored
Effect: Contains 4 warlocks and 1 lvl1 goblin. You can kill the goblin immediately for one Keg of Health. You can talk to the Warlocks for the Wand of Splosion, which when activated, reduces your health to 1, kills the warlocks, leaves 2 Health and 2 Mana potions in their reaspective places, and makes the Goblin unkillable. You can talk to the warlocks and use the wand even if you kill the goblin.

Name: Paan's Labyrinth
Appears in: East
Explored: Partial
Contains: A troll caled Marwood which you can talk to, quite a bit of exploration in the form of a maze with 3 lvl 1 imps called Helboi who have lifesteal.

Name: Undead Kennel
Appears in: East
Explored: unexplored
Effect: Contains a level 1 zombie, a slayer wand and a Zombie Dog.

Name: Mass09 Banking
Appears in: East
Explored: unexplored
Effect: Contains a lvl5 non-hostile vampire who hands you Mass09 Ledger when you talk to him. The ledger is a small item which can be used for 1 gold per use to shuffle all existing monster locations. This item can be lockered.

Name: Mad Whispers
Appears in: north
Explored?: unexplored
Effect: Contains Whispergems and picking them up displays a Message. (4% Phys Resistance, not convertable)

Name: Smackle Funky's
Appears in: Central, South
Explored? unexplored
Effect? 5x5 Room, contains a Shop which spawns Monsters of the same Lv for 5 gold.

Name: Diary of a Goat
Appears in: South
Explored? No
Effect? 5x5 Room containing 5 of Gold, a lv 9 Goat (drops Dairy Diary, worth 100 Cp.) and a signpost talking about the Naga Empire.

Name: Vampire Chef
Appears in: South
Explored? Yes
Effect? Contains 25 Plants and the Vampire Chef (Lv1, Drops the Recipe Scroll).
Killing the plants in a right Order boosts your Stats. You can look up the recipts with the Scroll.

Name: Confession
Appears in: South
Explored? No
Effect? 5x5 Room containing 5 piles of Gold and a Sign Post talking about the discrepancies within the Naga Empire.

Name: Wisp Gems
Appears in: South

Name: Sticky Stick

Name: Metal Spider Temple

Effect: 15x13 Room, uncovering tiles will afflict you with different debuffs. Contains a Health Potion, Mana Potion, Fortitude Tonic, Burne Salve, Compression Seal, Translocation Seal, Strength Potion, and Whupaz. In the middle of the temple lies an Altar which gives you an Essence Potion, but drains your Health and Mana and hits you with Poison and Manaburn.(Heals both Health and Mana for the amount drained)

Explored?: Partially
Effect[b]: 15x13 Room with a good amount of non accesible Blackspace.
Contains a Monk who will give you a LEMMISI Glyph for 25 G.

Name: The New World

Effect: Soko-Trolls puzzle, must spell out "The New World" in the lava rocks on the center to complete. Reward is Wisp Gem (small, 5% damage), Tokoloshe Charm (small, 5% magic resist), Sword, 2 large gold pile, 1 small gold pile, 1 mana potion, 1 health potion.

Name: Lurnatrix
Appears in: West
Explored?: Yes
Effect: Lots of walls and a friendly Druid who offers you several experience bonuses. 35g gives you 50 experience immediately, 15g gives you +1 learning buff, 5g gives 50% exp boost to next kill. You may only buy one.

Name: The Mighty Lost Lekon
Appears in: West
Explored?: No
Effect: 5x5 dungeon with broken altar in the center. When touching the altar, you are surrounded by 8 goats (one each of levels 1-8) and granted the Lekon Devout buff (+2 piety per goat kill). Goats have typical goat stats, in addition to Mana Burn, First Strike and No Experience.

Name: Draco's Heart
Appears in: West
Explored?: No
Effect: 5x7 room with 1x7 walkable path up the middle, impassable rivers on each side of the path and breakable walls lining the room. "Dragon Heart" item at the end (large, 1g 5CP, grants +3 max health per level up when held) which spawns Draco when picked up. Draco is level 9, 167 health, 63 damage, Magical Attack, No Experience and blocks your exit. You may kill him, teleport him or PISORF him out of the way, or convert the Dragon Heart to kill him instantly.

Name: I Wish I Could Read
Appears in: East
Explored?: No
Effect: 5x5 Dungeon, some gold piles (sorry, didn't count them at the time), Fake Beard (+5XP when placed in inventory, unconvertible)

Name: The Book of Namtar
Appears in: East
Explored?: No
Effect: 5x5 Dungeon, 5 gold piles, Cracked Orb (provides one death protection when placed in inventory, then becomes inert).

Name: Draining Blade
Appears in: East
Explored?: No
Effect: 5x5 Dungeon, 5 gold piles, Draining Blade (1 lifesteal for 9 layers of curse and 5 of corrosion).

Name: Depleted Glyph
Appears in: east
Explored: No
Effect: 5x5 room, containing a few piles of Gold, a signboard, and a depleted Glyph. (B2P, 0 CP)

Name: Forlorn Heart
Appears in: North
Explored: No
Effect: 5v5 room, containing a blue heart named "Forlorn", which only converts for 33. If you pick it up it's conversion value rises to 100.

Name: Draining Blade
Appears in: North
Explored: No
Effect: 5X5 room with a few gold piles, a sign post and a special Vampiric Blade called "Draining Blade". It's exactly the same as Vampiric Blade, 25 gold, 50 conversion, +1 lifesteal, but adds 5 Corrosion and 8 curse [needs verification]when picked up.

Name: Yendor Vendor
Appears in: Center
Expolred: No
Effect: 5X5 room with some small gold piles, a shop called "Yendor Vendor" which sells a Cracked Amulet of Yendor, and a sign explaining level catapulting. The amulet looks exactly like Yendor, but it only provides 5 XP, costs 2 gold and converts for 10.

Name: Strange Amulet
Appears in: South
Explored: No
Effect: 5x5 room with some gold and a strange amulet. Picking up the amulet spawns a level 1 and a level 9 Thrall. Killing the level 9 Thrall drops a schadenfreude potion.

Name: Spider Amulet
Location: South
Revealed: No
Effect: 5X5 room with some gold, a signpost presenting spiders as some horrible beasts of immagination, and an amulet which gives +10 health and attempts to poison the player every time he levels up

Name: Crumbling Ward
Location: South
Explored: No
Effect: A 5X5 room with some gold and an item that can be consumed for 15 piety. It's lockerable.

Name: Gardening
Location: South
Revealed: No
Effect: A 5X5 room with one of each existing plants and a sign labeling the act of cleaning plants gardening. They all drop spoons.

Name: Sun Temple
Location: South
Explored: No
Effect: 5x5 room with a few gold piles and a golden cup (much gold), and a sign with some flavour.

And I think noone mentioned this one otherwise we'd have herd of it:

Name: Bound Sword
Location: South
Explored: No
Effect: 5x% room with some gold, a sign with lore about the naga empire and the "Bound Sword" which is lockerable, unconvertable and gives 15% extra damage.

Name: Naga Lore
Location: West (Magma mines)
Explored: No
Effect: 5X5 room with some gold piles and a signpost with some naga lore reffering to the East as the location of the Naga Empire.

Name: Cha'Dylan
Location: West
Explored: Partial
Effect: Large room unexplored in the middle. Impossible to explore without LEMMISI or BLUDTUPOWA. In the center of the explored space there is a blue bandit called Cha'Dylan who is lvl1, has 10 or so death protections, very low hit points and about 42 damage initaly. It seems you can only make him acessible with WONNAFYT. When you kill him he drops a Sensation Stone.

Name: From the Book of Namtar II
Appears in: east
Explored?: No
Effect: 5x5 room containing a few gold piles, and a signboard.

Name: Orb of the Apprentice
Appears in: east
Explored?: No
Effect: 5x5 room containing a few goldpiles, a signboard, and a Orb of Lusory (10% magic resist, 10 CP). Using the Orb spawns an Illusion of equal level.

Name: Bombs
Appears in: North
Explored?: No
Effect: 5x5 room, containing a few goldpiles, a signboard, and "Wall Cruncher". (25 Cp, destroys walls around the player)

Effect: Quite a few walls which are immediately destroyed upon picking up the guitar. Titan Guitar is large, 11g 11CP, on use makes all enemies on map slowed and cowardly and is consumed (unsure if other dungeon levels are affected).

Name: 20 Small Gold Piles
Appears in: North
Explored?: No
Effect: 5x5 room with 20 small gold piles

Name: Blacksmith
Appears in: North
Explored?: No
Effect: 5x5 room that contains one each of the the blacksmith items Perseverance Badge, Sword, Shield, Bear Mace.

Name: WIZARD.EXE
Appears in: North
Explored?: Yes
Effect: Friendly NPC Golem will allow you to trade certain glyphs for various effects or consumables. For example, LEMMISI will give you one of each Alchemy seal.

Name: Good Glenrick
Appears in: North
Explored?: No
Effect: 5x7 room with some walls and a single level 6 enemy. 10 hps, 9 damage, no status effects. Easy exp.

Name: Avatar Statue
Appears in: North
Explored?: No
Effect: 5v5 room with 5 small gold piles, an Avatar lore signpost and a level 1 Statue enemy. Physical immune, 3 damage, curse bearer, no experience. Drops Ritual Scroll when killed: large item, 13g 20CP, when consumed grants 5% resists 1 max mana and 3 layers of curse.

(Will do more later, for now I thought I'd mention that it seems to me like any subdungeon can spawn anywhere; lore dungeons being a likely exception. edit: changed my mind lol... I'm either dead wrong or there is some serious bias towards certain dungeons being in certain locations)

I just found the goat dungeon myself, and the goat was level 1. I think that it's random. It's probably like that for all of the monster themed dungeons.

Yes and yes. Feel free to create the pages yourself if you desire.

To be clear, I'm not listing the "secret" subdungeon. The rotation there is much slimmer (blacksmith, gold hoard, monster nest, and Good Glenrick) so they tend to be better-known and understood than the regular subdungeons. I don't feel extensive documentation is necessary for them.

Keep it coming; I'll keep updating the main thread as we go (hopefully scum a bit tonight and add a few of my own to the list).

Yup, I'll maintain the main thread.

This is becoming really long, really quickly. Really gives you some visibility on the scope of the subdungeons the devs have been creating... and exactly why we've been putting off an in-depth analysis. I probably should have reserved first post to give some more breathing space :?
