I'd say that anything that improves your damage per blow or reduces the damage you take per blow counts as a regen fighting tool. So anything from the Tower Shield to the Fine Sword improve your damage*regen score relative to that of the monster, thereby reducing the tiles spent per exchange. On the other hand, things like the Crystal Ball or Fire Heart do not support regen fighting explicitly. They let you start closer to the finish line, but don't improve the advantage you gain per exchange.

True. Fine sword especially. I'd say that's the best early item.

Well, I probably meant "feature" then... Anyway, It seems that we do generally agree here.

For some reason, I had never really used that strategy before and now understand it better. I'll probably spend more time investigating it, as there are many ways to get screwed using it (for example being forced to explore 3 tiles at a time thus wasting lots of regen ; or having prepared a nice corridor where should be able to explore 2 tiles at a time and suddenly getting stuck by a monster ; failling to save enough mana for a WEYWUT and get extra xp ; using too much ressources and make later fights too difficult...)

Regen fighting is like chess. Easy to use (once you get how it works), but very hard to master. Anyways, BURNDAYRAZ is probably the single best regen fighting tool, so you do raise a fair point.
