I took a looong break from playing DD but I still kept reading the forums every now and then to check how it's been progressing.
Yesterday I finally happened to try the game again and was quite pleasantly surprised at how it looks

Sweet! I'm really looking forward to playing the finished game! The alpha already was one of the best games I ever played, and the beta was so much better. I can only hope this will sell as well as it deserves.

My wife and I will be very happy to get back into this game. We've been on a long break from playing, waiting for the "real thing" to finally be out. I have checked the forum multiple times per week for the whole time, though. Glad to see it's come along so well.

Holy crap! I can't believe it! I pre-ordered DD about 2.5 years ago and I'll finally get a copy! Given that Valve give free blocks of Steam keys to developers (I know I used to be one), will we get a Steam key for the game?

Yes, in the FAQ sticky it says all beta preorderers will get a steam key upon release. Hope you enjoy the game!

Also, maybe I'm being totally dumb here, but what is the encircled "a" next to the desktop dungeons logo for?

I guess it's emphasizing the roguelikeness of the game, @ being the symbol of the adventurer in ASCII graphics.
