Allright guys and girls, here's a brag:

Image

I was doing Monk Challenges, and being an old monk abuser I was amused at the idea I got for a really cool monk. Then I decided it wasn't just cool, it was bloody murderous, but I needed a place to test it. Then I looked at the map and saw that Slime Pits were burning, decided that I've done that so many times I can do it in my sleep and prepped me up a VT run. Except instead of Slime Pits it was the somewhat simmilar looking ICK SWAMP.

Which is pretty much the last place you'd take this build on a test run, and failing miserably wouldn't have been a shame... Except I'm actually rather good at Ick Swamp, exceptionally so judging by some discussions we've had on the forums before, and while you can forget about Peekaboo, it's a good JJ map.

So I went in, killed Itsssama and was halfway down to killing Frank when I made some crucial mistake and had to start over. In the second run, I had did find Drac and the Tower shield, albeit rather late, and had to jump between JJ and Drac 2 times to time my debuff removal, but ended up 2 warlocks away from unstoppable. On VT Ick With a Monk. A Dwarf Monk. Of JJ.

This build is pretty MAD. God knows what it would've done to any other map, or even Ick if I actually had a Bycepss. I've come up with some screwy s**t over the years, but this was planted right in front of me all this time and I never thought to check. Imma be going places with this, VT places, see what it can do. Destroy everything but Cursed Oasis, most likely (and possibly some Vicious places, simply because of all the magic attack bossess)*

*Which predominantly have magic attack in order to prevent Monks from just walking over everything. It's not like regular monks aren't monsters, but I'm pretty sure the devs knew about this thing, because it's planted in the Gold Challenge. So I don't suppose it really fares better than the average monk in vicious. And you absolutely need the apotecary for the extra healing potion or luck with scoring a health refill. A halfling JJ Monk (AKA Spongebob) is likely more ludicrous.

Nice victory and really interesting build Lujo! I never liked playing Dwarves in Ick due to all those vampires, I see it wasn't a problem for you. I wonder how it will work out in other maps.

Thank you! (went to thank you got overly excited by functional high-end dwarf build  )

^ Used to be worse, there was a short time when those Vamps had magic damage, which is the only time even I've had problems with it. Even when there were no spoons (and the boss was tougher).

And well, thanks for coming out with the silly peekaboo technique. Didn't work here obviously, but that just means this works on an unfavourable map with lousy (well, somewhat lousy) preps. On another map I'd have Peekaboo piety going. Only problem is that if I go more than 2 hits of healing I have only 3 potions left (with apothecary) unless I luck into them. I can get some mad mana, easy conversions into whatever, or even avatar + huge last chance though, and if it wasn't ick probably ding like a right bastard.

That explains why the Vamp bosses have magical damage, while their regular versions don't. So they used to have, but got changed.

I'm glad you like peakabooing. In case you try it with a halfling next, it's good to know that CA gives back a potion.

Having heard a few horror stories about Fighter Gold being one that involves a lot of ramming your head into a wall, I decided to go at it myself. And then subsequently beat it. On my first try. Didn't get any xp-boosting glyphs until I was on the lvl 8 and 9 enemies, so ended up fighting Mr. Goat from lvl 6 to 7 with quite a few health potions from conversions of various glyphs. I honestly expected the challenge to be a lot harder - I ended up with a large amount of unused blackspace in the outer walls/sword area and left with 2 health potions to spare. Probably going to go after Berserker and Warlord gold later for my first (class-challenge wise) veto slot.

EDIT: And literally 10 minutes later I beat Berserker Gold. Did get lucky in finding Mystera right next to me once I spawned, and got dragon soul as a shop item, but otherwise the shop pool was ill-suited for the spellcaster build required for that challenge.

EDIT #2: Rogue and Assassin gold are both down, and warlord is currently being worked on. That means that all thieves' guild challenges are complete for my first veto slot.

Dragon Isles goated on the first try:

I didn't really have a strategy, I just thought, since the Matron has retaliate (finally remembered it! ), and since PISORF is not guaratneed to spawn, I'll break my recent spellcastery habits and just go melee, prep standard Transmutation Seal / Slaying Wand and then the Dragon Shield and see where that leads me. It lead me to a pretty straightforward victory, I had the perfect hand in all respects: Mystera (prepped) / Taurog / Binlor made sure I maxed resists and had enough leeway to kill everyone and do everyhing; the additional glyphs spawning were IMAWAL / ENDISWAL / PISORF / WONAFYT, which is probably the best possible combination, or close to it, allowing to farm Binlor piety, save blackspace, and deal unresistable damage. Druid grove and Glenrick were icing on the cake. I don't think I had such an easy DI run with any of my classes before. That said, resist stacking is kind of cheezy, but since there is no way to guarantee PISORF on a goat, it's basically scum-or-cheeze, and scum is no go for me.
