Anyone try Alch Scroll with the Rat yet? I did it in the dailies with Binlor, costs you money but gets you nice and fat for a few stoneskins followed by Pissorffs. Works when there's only one boss, you'd have to get hits on two otherwise and I'm not sure how well that works. Probably does. Leftover money ought to give nice overheal just from that if you just buy potions/cheap stuff.

Ah, I'm being foolish. I thought Lifesteal worked as a percentage of your base damage. Nevermind me.

Nope. But there is a valid reason to question it, lifesteal is usually capped by your damage.
So when you have 10 total damage but corroded your target for 40 already, it makes a difference what is going to happen.
Luckily corrosion counts as damage too.

So initial lifesteal will be capped, but subsequent attacks will steal as normal. Interesting...

@dislekcia
Any chance the Rat Monarch were inspired by my "Ratling" monsterclass?

There are quite alot of simmelarities here.

The new Rat Monarch is a lot of fun to play. I tried the old one and didn't really enjoy it very much--it felt very narrow, like I was supposed to avoid doing most of the game. This one is cool and has a very different style, which is exactly what it seems a monster class should be.

I just had a *very* close purist victory in DoubleDoom as the Rat Monarch. Bosses were Frank and Tomithy, which I find are both quite tricky for this class, but part of the difficulty was entirely my fault; it pays to remember all three of your class traits before rhinking "Hey, absolution would be great for overcoming low base health!". Thankfully, I already had a full inventory so I didn't clog it up with a useless bead when I tried to grab absolution. Still, I decided that if I was going to be stuck in a completely useless religion, I ought to make the best of it; I farmed piety until I hit 100, then used enlightenment to grab the +5 mana (huge help), then desecrated EM and converted a few things to immediately convert to JJ. I ended up beating Frank using the last of my gold to fill up my mana pool enough for two fireballs, thanks to Enlightenment + Elven Boots from the Graveyard subdungeon. I have to say, i love the way this class makes you consider your gold more carefully. Gloves of Midas were very helpful.

Still, I also learned that I ought to start regen-fighting a lot earlier; successive corrosion stacks mean that your fireballs quickly start seriously out-damaging the enemy's regeneration, even if they're 3+ levels higher than you. I also relized that when I don't have a high-level target, I should fight monsters that would normally be popcorn as I explore, at least until I'm right at the threshold for leveling up on a juicy kill. Now that I realize this, I'm sure I'll have a lot more success with the monarch. I'm having a ton of fun with it so far!

Not sure if this has been posted yet, but this is a thing

that also crashes your game unforturnately.

After starting the game all over again, I have lost most of my money, i still have 879 left for some reason. And the game thinks I haven't beaten any dungeon ever. However none of my quests have been reseted.
So yeah, don't try to play the rat monarch as a non-rat race. It is important to stay the CORRECT size, or your kingdom's goldpile's size will be corrected to CORRECT size. (and good bye all of my 2 rainbow borders.)

Edit 2: The problem have now fixed it self, thanks to cloud.
