After that 18 streak that was in the top ten I haven't really been able to get anything going. Shifting Passages is always a pain in the butt and Gorgon just complicates matters on top of that. I only had enough steam to get through Evolia and really just had nothing left to get out of the corner, let alone take on the other boss. It sounds like prepping Elite Items might have given me the oomph I needed but that prep can backfire. I should have realized the Sword wouldn't be that useful but I was afraid of not getting the low cost items and the third option was something dumb like a TT prep for Gorgon or something.

Also, remembering that Earthmother is in fact an option would have helped; I forgot she only cares about blood magic, not poison.

Seeing even veterans expressing some concerns about this map, I decided to take some screenshots while playing, recording how I would approach this rather complicated Daily combo.

All in all I think I did fine. Never really felt in a pinch. I'm sure veterans all have their own preferred playing styles, but I hope the write-up would provide some food for thought for rookies struggling against today's map. You don't even have to worry about the wall-generation that much with Gorgon's ENDISWAL.

Gorgon is pretty double-edged. ENDISWAL excels when you have a LOT of walls, and petrifying gaze is a burden when you're blocked by plants or indestructible terrain. Gorgons do have a little bit of danger when it's time to clear out the popcorn, and I had to take two mana potions this run just to get unstuck. If the walls weren't actively spawning, I wouldn't have needed mana potions (think more like The Labyrinth or Rock Garden).

Reading the playthrough, what would have really improved my game is knowing that breaking Petrified monsters apparently creates their Bloodpool (I think?) - I lost a lot of piety from plantation that way. Live and learn, I suppose

A dungeon for no messing about. I don't remember Aequitas being so zappy and healthy. I guess I've seen too many Northern Desert runs.

Anyway, as a Gorgon with Elven Boots you have the mana potion = endiswal arithmetic for not getting trapped. Perseverance Badge is a great Gorgon prep. I went into Earthmother for the Imawal and picked up Tower Shield in the shop, taking as few kills as I could until I started fireballing Aequitas at level 6. A few clearances, a quicksilver potion and two dings sorted him, explored the whole map getting next to another Ding and then stomped Evolvia.

My first time seeing the TEETH subdungeon. Didn't want to mess around with it until I'd finished so I just left it as a little spare blackspace.

Wow...great challenge...at least for a newbie like me. Was holding my own and leveling nicely..then made the rookie error or getting trapped in a corner after a kill with no mana left for Endiswall. Doh! Had to surrender. I hate that more than anything...but it taught me to appreciate yet another facet of this game.
What's up tomorrow? An amnesiac character who can't remember what his class is so it changes randomly with each kill? :-)

Just sayin'

I was unable to find Evolvia, until there was only 6 black space left, and then realized that he was blocked off behind two statues. By that point I had no resources left, couldn't even unblock the boss.

I decided to go attempt Demonic Library after that loss to cheer me up, and actually managed to beat it for the first time ever thanks to The Avatar's "Anyone Can Win Vicious" dungeon guide.

Let's hope tomorrow's daily is a bit easier on newbies like me.
