Plantation is always a bit of a risk late-game, but it's also not very efficient if you use it too often. Late-game, if you have to double-Clearance to move, you probably aren't using all 20 of that mana. But it's not the end of the world if that's how you have to spend some of the 90 piety you just gained...

Gnome Tinker, Magma Mines

It's a Tinker with Elite Items prep and two extra boss trophies. Nuff said.

Gnome Transmuter, Berserker Camp
Gnome Tinker, Magma Mines

In a welcome change of pace after the recent monster class “puzzle” runs, I just had some fun burning everything to the ground. The Tinker Magma Mines run was especially satisfying after my one-mistake-too-many Rat Monarch run from a few days ago in which I got the final boss down to 2/515 HP and then failed.

Desktop Dungeons: The Drinking Game continues.

Of course the one time I seriously debate picking up Flame Magnet for five minutes before skipping over it, the game plays "hide the flame magnet". Oh well, I was a potion race anyway, lolol. Too bad the only combat glyph was CYDSTEP, though... srsly?!?

Anyway, even more gnome puke for the innkeeper to clean up tonight. Will have to give him a raise... or not.

For yesterday's Gnome Transmuter at Berserker Camp, I almost got my as* handed over due to stupid decisions, bad RNG and sloppy play. Was feeling Brave and thinking why not, so I started with EM. Was punished by her a few times for declogging passages, coupled with stupid me picking up the Cursed Sword from the sub (should have just converted it without picking it up). I got like 10+ corrosion, 7 curse, and almost the whole map explored due to spamming Lemissi.
And yet I converted to GG for Humility and bought the Evil Guitar to level up all the mobs. All that was for nothing, cos I just barely made it through using a bit of GG's refillls, and then converting to Binlor just so I can use my potions. Had to kill the 2 bosses back to back - was really close for Aequitas, I was using my last gold, last conversions to get enough mana potions to fireball him to death.

Moral of the Story: Don't ever try to use EM in Berserker Camp from the start, even if you are feeling brave.

As for today, I played much more safely. Feeling good getting top XP and piety spots when I completed the run hours ago. Since today's map isn't much of a challenge, I am "challenging" those who have yet to do it to beat both my XP and piety. Should be doable - just give your best shot! :)

Wow, top times are really close today; mere seconds apart!

Not much to say; found Mystera early and jumped in as soon as possible. Got the Pendent of Mana, Elven Boots, and two hits of the Mana boon to hit 20 MP, then used Refreshment/Mystic Balance to fireball spam kill all the bosses. I ended Parched.

Guess I should weigh in a bit then?

So, basically I tend to avoid the thread and the leaderboard before I finish the run if it's not an especially hard combo. (On the other hand, if it's a Goat run or Labyrinth/Cursed Oasis I would often check out the win-rate and if it's very low, then I went on the thread to see if there're traps in the prep or recommended exploration directions.) Plus I always get nervous under pressure, so even if I'd seen the post from ~'(^ + ^)'~ I'd probably only do worse. ;)

For XP I used IMAWAL till the end, but wasted a lot of XP on monsters because I forgot about Snake Spawns, and only found the Guitar very late. So 400 shouldn't be a problem with the goal in mind. As for piety, I did straight MA and late game EM. Again some piety were lost due to IMAWAL-ing XP-worthy monsters, but the big thing is that I didn't use Dracul - ideally, one could convert into Dracul, convert all health potions and the CYDSTEPP glyph, get Blood Curse and then simply convert out, as both lifesteal and bloodpool mechanics conflict with EM.

What's the conjunction extra altar though? I wonder if conjunction makes the altar spawn points different as well. I only found MA at level 2. Not an ideal starting point to farm piety!

Also like to chip in a little. My XP definitely can be beaten - I only used Imawal for some high level monsters and before all bosses.

Not sure what you guys prepped but I think you guys had Elite items which I didn't which changes the shop pool. Like you guys mentioned Evil Guitar and Elven Boots - they aren't in the default pool. What is in the default pool is the Balanced Dagger which I found super early (at level 1) and used pretty much throughout - so that means except for the bosses, I was mostly doing same level kills. So even with +2 XP from it and +1 XP from using Wonafyt (for most monsters, not all) - that's still just around 3 more XP per monster - pretty sure killing higher levels should give you more XP in the end.

I did farm piety - started with Mystera, converted to Dracul with 100 piety (missed out on the free 20 piety from Blood Curse). Got the Stone Sigil only around that time, so I got some extra piety from kills with Dracul to the end. Lastly, since there was EM and Imawal, I pretty much farmed piety with her - expending all my mana sources (from Clearance, converting off stuff to get more mana potions, using up all my gold via Crystal Ball).
