Started the boss fight against Firstborn at level 5, slinging fireballs at him until I'd accrued enough HP from level-ups to survive his attacks. After cleaving through the Firstborn, I used LEMMISI to regen-fight the Matron. Unfortunately I didn't have enough popcorn left to clear the layers of curse so I wasn't able to leverage my blood shield in that battle. I desecrated Earthmother (that's what the burn cure salve is for, in case you're wondering) to use HALPMEH and healing potions to supplement my onslaught. I then had just enough piety in the end to drink my last healing potion by converting HALPMEH for the win.

Subdungeon was just a signpost with some gold, hidden subdungeon was more gold, letting buy out everything from the (relatively low cost) shop pool except a Witchalok Pendant. Other gods were Earthmother (desecrated) and Glowing Guardian. Also, this is a new kingdom. I have done both Purist and Vicious on Dragon Isles before ;)

@Tinker: I didn't know you have such an interesting part-time job, ;)

Saw you guys mentioning somewhere about prominent forum members (or its it alpha/beta players?) that are immortalize in the game in the form of character names.
Never did notice, now I will remind myself to open my eyes wide and watch out for more names, I suppose Darvin would also be one of those who have their names in game.

@Darvin: Ok, cool, will keep a look out, :)

Is there a forum post somewhere that mentions all the people who have their names in game, just curious. Or do you happen to know some of them? Would like to know, :)

Hey...just curious...love this thread...not that I'm completing any of it yet. But just wondering....has a similar thing been tried for speed?

Curious what the best times achievable are for certain dungeons.

Sound like a good competition? Any race, any class...prep however you like. Finish as fast as you can. Only differentiator that would matter would be vicious versus non-vicious.

Again....I won't be on the list. I play slow and steady. But I'm impressed by you speed demons.

By the way, I did an overhaul of the Namtar's Lair dungeon page in light of my last couple of runs. I added more text (rather more than less, anyway it can be cut easily if needed), and went into more detail regarding how to beat each form. I changed the recommended classes by removing Sorcerer and Transmuter, and adding the Wizard and Half-Dragon instead. (Sorcerer is universally good, but I don't see it being so much better here than other hybrids like Thief; and Transmuter is still really-really awesome, but I want Blovski to be free of the burden of VT-ing NL with one of these buggers... ;) ).

Wizard is really good because it can bring lots of glyphs (and versatility) down, a Mystera Wizard is a walking free Crystal Ball even cut off from the altar. For races I recommend Elf & Orc (Elf because it ignores the mana penalty, and can kill Form 3 with a single level-up without anything else, and Orc because it ignores the damage penalty and can beat forms 2 & 4 easily, and even form 3 if they take Cleansing first). Dwarf would also be logical as they ignore the health penalty, but I've never felt that particular penalty to be really crippling, whereas the Damage & Mana penalties can be real bad. That said, a JJ Gnome for example is probably overkill, but I didn't want to go into all of the combinations... ;)

Btw still lots of maps unwon (unreported?) Purist + VT... Anyone still thinking about some? I might try The Labyrinth if nobody wants to do that one, and possibly something else... Not so eager to try Ick...
