Does anyone have any detailed tips on how to play Cursed Oasis? I've read the wiki and it's not helping much. I still suck pretty consistently on this dungeon.

I think part of my problem is that I'm not comfortable consuming blackspace without killing things. The idea of uncovering a quarter of the map and staying at level 1 seems fundamentally wrong.

How much scouting do you generally do on this map before starting to fight?

What is your strategy for managing levels of curses? Do you kill the eelroots? I seem to get over-cursed a lot.

Thx.........Z

So, I managed to get top XP spot today, slightly edged out fall_ark's 361 XP by 5. And I know it is only because Tinker hasn't attempted yet. No, I did not use Imawall, and yes, I used Chaos Avatar below level 10, and there were still 2 Level 8 Animated Armours left (one of which I managed to get it down to 2 DPs) when I ended.

Almost lost - took me a while staring at the screen (and pulling out my calculator) before I managed to salvage a bad situation I was in. Was at level 7 exactly and 100 piety (already "wasted" quite a bit as I was delaying the CA for the Shade boss) went I started on the Shade boss. Before that, I actually attacked it several times already, knocking off 18% of its resists.

So, I was happily throwing fireballs when to my horror, the boss actually blinked onto a spot that sealed me off. My health was too low to take on a level 5 monster that was blocking the other only path. I panicked. I could convert off 4 glyphs (the 5th one was WeytWhut from JJ with 0 CP) and 3 potions to get the 425 (5 x 85) CP required to just get enough XP (5 + 6 + 7 + 8 + 9 = 35) for a level up. But then I would be deprived of many useful glyphs and would probably not be able to kill the Shade boss.

Luckily, I had Lemissi to use. I had to drink 2 mana potions just to be able to cast Lemissi. And from mana form, I was able to get enough mana to throw another fireball at the Shade boss to make it blink away. Really close, and for a time I almost thought I was done for.

Funny, I keep on forgetting that CA helps reduce the Cursed Shade's resistances. I fought him while he had his full resistances intact. It took me two dings from munching popcorn to take him down. :)

And since I got my 25 win streak today (almost all Purist except for that Halls of Steel one which I had to prep JJ), from tomorrow on, I can start bringing 1 prep.

Sorry, my Purist buddies (you know who you are).
