Orc Rogue, Magma Mines

Well, you can really go to town on this one; CYDSTEPP is available!
Prepped JJ and Binlor to get quick Petition, then 3x health 1x mana. First kill was a level 6. After killing all higher level monsters, I switched to TT and got 3x Learning and switched back to JJ for Chaos Avatar.
Hero's Helm, Fine Sword, Whurgarbl, Spoon, Elven Boots, Balanced Dagger, Poisoned Dagger, Midas Gloves. Lekon sub.

One of those runs where I found what I really needed after the need was gone. :-)

The poison scroll and CYDSTEPP both eluded me until after I had killed all the bosses. I played it really simply from a god perspective. Found Pactmaker and took Conscensus and Warriors Pact immediately. Then found TT and worhipped him for the rest of the game.

Got Learning and then had a nice easy walk through mines picking off +1 level guys and lower level stuff to get up to level 8 and then wiped out the bosses.

I doubt I'll ever have the patience to go through the antics required to get top XP or piety. It is fascinating reading about it, though. :-)

* Orc Thief in Den of Dagger *

Be careful, as this is actually "harder" than you think ... Actually, it's just a tricky layout, where you essentially have only 2 paths to go to at the start, each with a L1 and a L3 behind them! I think just prepping Transmutation Scroll or Bearmace would save your a**.

I prepped Elite items and there was a Wicked Guitar right in the closest starting shop (but don't go using it carelessly, see top paragraph). I managed to see both subs - I didn't even get to see that many shops, I think most of the shops are "hiding" in the outer ring close to the border of the map.

Default glyphs were: Default altars were: Boss is

Ok, so at the moment, I have lowest XP (132), which is definitely not my intention, I wanted to try to go for max XP today (seeing I got the Wicked Guitar, and only missed using it on 1 or 2 early monsters which had to be killed to clear the blockade at the start. And also the fact that there was Imawal and TT, though TT is not that useful since you are going to promote all the mobs).

So what happened was that I actually "misclicked" on the exit (or entrance) stairs! Luckily, I had already killed the boss else I can only blame myself. Not sure why I have been prone to doing this lately, when I was playing Chemist badge for Dragon Isles just earlier, I actually "lost" a potential winning run by exiting just before taking on the final boss (I guess I must have mistaken that for the stairs to go down). But this, this is just totally unexpected, I definitely wasn't going anywhere, I just instinctively walked to the tile with the stairs and pressed "Space" - was too late before I noticed what I had done. Wow, I really need to be careful or one of these days I might lose my streak just from doing this again before killing the boss.

[Edit: Darvin got 123 XP, the lowest, just saw it. And did kravac just lose his streak from this? He only prepped Elite Items, so no way he could have gotten out of the early blockade. Sorry about the loss! :( And Salvia Hardon too, sorry about the loss! I actually was thinking of trying out prepping both Elite Items and Quest Items, would have died if I did that.]

Wow, yeah, that's a nasty opener! I was terrified for a moment when I saw level 3's blocking off both directions of exploration, with only two level 1's in between them. Definitely a scary situation to be in, but fortunately there are enough tools here to break through and win. Once you've broken out you're fine; the boss is Goo and there's a BLUDTUPOWA glyph to make torching it a breeze.

Easiest way to break out is to use the transmutation seal to access the secret subdungeon (which is visible from the entrance) which will also reveal a level 2 meatman that you can regen-fight with the blackspace and corrosion at your disposal.

[EDIT] The shop near the start location is a badge of courage if you don't prep elite items, so fortunately the item is useful either way.
