That was close call, I only had couple of blood pools left at the end. Couldn't have done it without GETINDARE.

I guess the people who beat it with under 200 XP did not fight the shade, since it was possible to bypass it via
casting IAMAWAL all the time during the fight.

You can get two levelups during the fight + use the bloodpools + health potions. It could be enough, I guess. I killed both.

Well, I died, as expected, not very good with Vampire especially in this tricky map.

I wasn't even playing as a Vampire at all, not really using bloodcows, just trying to slowly level up.

I guess my mistake was prepping Platemail and thinking I could keep it to the end to fight the final boss. Ended up didn't or can't use the getindare.

Also, finding the Vampiric Blade late and over-exploring early just trying to find a level 2 enemy didn't help too.

In the end, I could only just barely kill the boss below (also made a mistake of accidentally going back up to the top level only to find out I couldn't go back down since no more bandits and I had to heal up to hit the dragon boss once to go down).

Not playing well, mistakes, bad combination equals death.

Good to know you guys are beating it even if it is hard, good job, guys!

I wonder what Killermax646, Vemb, and Bwrgarbl did. I guess Killermax646 also found Yendor in the shops, since he prepped Elite items. Without it I guess you had to use IAMAWAL to either kill the dragon only, or use it for bonus XP.

If Vampiric Blade was in the shops, then it was a strong alternative to Yendor, actually.

If your start was anything like mine, you'd have IAMAWAL early on and find the subdungeon, and then you can abuse the 2 mana refund when walling an empty space and convert a lot of wasted mana regen to Fire Heart charges.
This is probably only useful when you're a Vampire in a very bad place like this...

My win is attributed to a whole lot of things... any of which weren't there would have got me. GETINDARE obviously. Vampiric Blade gave me a leg up that allowed me to go a bit longer without converting BYSSEPS... which I used to knock the Shade's resists down enough that he became easy. Another part of that was using a Vampire's special power... revealing blackspace gets me HP, but it's not kept on the Vampire, it's in the bloodcows where the Shade can't drain it. This allowed me to go after the Shade a lot earlier than other classes could afford. LEMMISI got me some of the pool's blackspace early on, which was nice. In the end there was the Titan Guitar for the final hit (although I might have found another way if it wasn't... I just didn't have to and was glad for it).

Animated Armours are also good for bloodcows, if you take a DP or two off. The key to doing this well is to out level them first (so you get the double), then be able to take off a DP with a HP positive hit, blackspace to heal them a bit (because they need HP to drain), and kill a DP with a second positive hit. Or even two slightly negative hits if that what it takes to prep... you just use another bloodcow to pay for the damage while you prep more cows. You're going to heal up the prepped cow and any cow that assists will heal up at the same time.

It's a rat! And there's a bunch of early deaths. The number of zombies around had me wondering if Frank was there too... but you don't have to worry about that. The boss is easy for Rat (especially if you remember the Mace... people are going in with the Venom Dagger over it for some reason!).

* Half-Dragon in the Labyrinth *

And for number 100 in my streak (and 666th overall, I surpassed Tinker on that a few days ago), we have one of my favourite classes to tear up a dungeon with, in one of my least favourite places. Overall, not so bad... early high death count convinced me that the random boss was going to be either SMM, Frank, or Iron Man. And that's correct.
