Cleared Magician Gold!
http://prntscr.com/l51rqg

Not much to say here. The Magician is pretty easy to pick up and play if you're familiar with casters. Due to very precise play with BLUDTUPOWA squeezing me to level 7 and all of Mystera's boons, along with enough money for compression seals and a Mage Plate thanks to Gloves of Midas, I had quite a few resources left over after the boss. A fun little challenge, but it wasn't too difficult. I think I could have made level 8 even, but all my level 8s and 9s were either Animated Armors or Siabrae, neither of which were really possible to kill.

I think it might be a good idea for Mystera to always spawn near the starting point for this challenge, as in Berserker Gold, because if you don't find Mystera early, you probably can't win.

We made an expansion and it is awesome. Really, you should check it out, especially if you're looking for some extra challenge.

I circumvented the piety penalty by taking Mystic Balance and two shots of Magic very early, and using that to fight 4-5 levels above me - this allowed me to level up without having to kill too much. I guess the difference is that my way misses out on some gold from the Gloves, since you can't kill as much, but that may or may not have an effect on your run depending on when you find them, and the run isn't so tight that a few gold will make a difference.

By the way, a bug with Curious Naga City - hitting Stheno makes the Hooded Figure disappear, giving her resistances. You can't prevent this in any way that I know of.

The last days I tried to clear The Grandmaster puzzle. The best I can achieve is 27 HP. Is this puzzle broken right now or am I missing something? :D
@shade_of_ox Did you beat Curious VGT yet? Noone has done that before :)

I've been thinking about trying it. Since they changed Golem Arbiters to be Bloodless, I think maybe Vampire isn't the best pick here anymore. I think maybe a Paladin or Monk might be a better call here, though a Monk would hurt from a lot of the new enemy types. I think the Troll is locked out by the lack of resists, and Gorgon needs too much blackspace. The Heretic might be able to do it, but would have a difficult time building sufficient resists (it might be best to just take Consensus and Body Pact after you're finished with the gods so that you can get the extra 12 resists from that, or more with Stone Sigil).

Actually I think the Heretic or Paladin probably have the best chance. Either way, you'd want some VERY lucky spawns - I'm talking Platemail, Serpentine Shield, Soul Orb, HALPMEH, etc... there are a ton of variables.

Prepwise I think probably The One Horn is good, especially for the Heretic. In that case you can counter the downside after you fight the Siabrae. Or Draining Blade is also very solid. Of course, you could also use Fido...

I can't find where the details are, but I remember that someone gave us a bug report on the last floor of Curious VGT (which has been fixed since then).
I believe he was using a monk with Fido. Just to say how broken Fido is right now...

Also, for information, choongmyoung compiled some scouting info about this dungeon here:

Yeah, this is about what I figured. Are the floors in Curious VGT fixed? I haven't actually scouted it yet.

Also, Paladin of GG probably dies to Avatar since you just don't have enough burst healing to hit him 12 times, probably, especially with Ratling Priests on floor 8 and Spleen also requiring burst healing. I think maybe Heretic might be a better option, but it will take some very tricky godplay.

For Heretic, here are some notes:
Mystera - probably take her around level 6 or so as a CP farm. None of her boons are that useful, maybe a shot or two of Magic. Mystic Balance isn't worth because the primary glyph is going to be HALPMEH.
EM - for Curse wipes during/after Freezing Wraiths. Also works as a CP farm.
Taurog - take as late as possible for physical resist and CP farm - good to take him late because of joining piety.
TT - Dodging and as much Poison boon as possible. Good to take him after getting cursed to gain piety while wiping curse stacks.
Jehora - Either take him early for health/mana boost, or take him late for Chaos Avatar (probably after getting corroded or weakened)
Binlor - Wall Crunchers to get Stone Form and ENDISWAL, to erode H. Free 30 CP.
GG - Humility and situational Cleansing and Protection. Probably can't get much out of him if you have Life Steal.
Dracul - If you prep a resist item, just take Blood Shield and Tithes - otherwise, a stack of Life Steal might not be bad. Pop Consensus here for an extra stack of Blood Tithe.
PM - Maybe just take Body Pact after Consensus for the extra little resists you can squeeze out. But if you're taking Consensus under Dracul, it might not be that good to take it.

And shopwise, Tower Shield is almost a must, though it's tough to have room for it (The One Horn is a good prep, and it's small). Vampiric Blade is also very strong. Use The One Horn on all undead enemies in the courtyard you can, to get more blood?

Btw I realized burn-popping Siabrea on the main floor generates plants on the main floor. It's not particularly annoying but I didn't think it would work like this. The Avatar didn't spawn ???s on the main floor, don't know about the Getanadafix (I guess it would work like Siabrea) or the Assassin Gold boss (no way to experiment this).

@Avatar I don't know if you actually looked into this or not but I actually was surprised when I read this (because srid linked to the thread where this was mentioned) so I did some testing. can confirm that plants spawned from Getanadafix can spawn inside subdungeons. an easy way to test this is to find the lekon subdungeon and weytwut. pull the boss next to the subdungeon fireball him and then hit a goat and your room instantly fills with plants, or skip the weytwut and hope there is still an available path to the subdungeon. so yeah thought I might point this out.

@shade_of_ox the floor rooms are not set so any monster set can appear on any floor. they also still spawn with a corresponding item but I don't know all of them and can't be bothered scouting to find this information out as I am nowhere near good enough to tackle this challenge so good luck if you ever attempt the challenge.
