It's a good point about Weakening, Corrosion et al. If you strike a higher-level Naga, your first attack damage will still be dealing full damage, and your stack of weakness will only be applied after the full exchange (first the opponent's hit, then yours) is evaluated. I think damage is "locked" when you initiate the melee attack, and only re-calculated after the full exchange has been completed.
I made a post about this behaviour earlier in the context of the predictor, but not for the current attack, but rather for subsequent attacks, i.e. the predictor shows your health chunks according to the AA's current strenght, when in reality stripping DP layers will reduce its damage, and thus the actual health chunks you need to spend per attack will be lower than predicted. But this is only valid after the first attack!
