Aw shucks. Definitely a harder run for newer players. Should have recorded this run but I was rendering some stuff so forgot about it.

Anyway, no GG is fine, but that's more hindsight speaking. I did get cold feet when realizing it's a Halfling Rogue in a "harder" Hard dungeon. But with MA and JJ near the entrance (at least with Conjunction) and helpful store items, it's actually a pretty ideal setup for the race/class combo. The only thing missing is ENDISWAL, but I guess you can't ask for everything.

LEMMESI and WONAFYT turned out to be super helpful. Heck, I kept most starting items and glyphs before finding Evolvia (already dealt with Jorgunmandr with BLUD2POWA and 2 level-ups in between), and WONAFYT really shined against him. It's probably the most straightforward Evolvia fight ever for me.

Also, it's pretty much common knowledge now, but Zombie Gold is really, really, really good.

Interesting... MA is actually in a different place on your map than it was for me. Mine was where the slowed lvl 5 Changeling was on your map. I guess MA is the conjunction but not sure what put them in different spots.

Anyway Shifting Sands Halfing Rogue sounded really bad, but it turned out not too hard. JJ's health and mana boosters made things a lot easier, generating 5 level 7 zombies with zombie gold is crazy, and lots of high level shades which were easy to take down with 18 mana. Took down Jorg on the way up, and ended up with levelups left over after taking on Evolia. Troll Heart AND Dwarven Gauntlets means your health gain is almost like a normal class!

There was a trisword? How did I miss that?

Anyway, in retrospect I probably would have been better off not prepping GG. There were a few times where I would have preferred to use a potion while leveling. Also today I don't think I found any glyphs until I was level 4 or so, which was kind of annoying.

Luckily JJ and Pactmaker is a decent GG exit strategy for a halfling.

It took me about 30 seconds to figure out how I'd died, since I was drinking healing potions and topping off with exploring tiles and had carefully ensured prediction was okay. I chugged reflex and attacked, and I died. After sitting in disbelief for a while, it dawned on me that Evolvia must have re-randomized into Death Gaze 100% from the first hit, then retaliated against the second hit in the new form. I'm not sure if this qualifies as a bug or an edge case, but it is infuriating either way.

Sigh... note to self: never use reflex against Evolvia. I had him too, next hit would have been a KO and I had 5 potions and plenty of CP fodder left and I could have arranged to finagle a chaos avatar or Dracul conversion if I'd really needed it and I still had mana potions to "ping" him if he ended up in physical resistant form.

Well, today started really fun, but ended a bit too dicey for me, but I've only myself to blame for being my usual cheeky self. So after killing the bosses (Jörg at L6->7 and Evolvia at L7->8), and mopping up all bigger monsters topside, I remembered that the subdungeon is not just for fueling B2P tiles, but there's actually some dough and a couple of Zombies there as well. I was like, what could possibly go wrong? I'm a Halfling, which is like almost as good as a Gnome, and Gnomes aren't afraid of anything, right? Well, newsflash, the L10 Zombies have bosslike stats, and it didn't help that I was corroded like hell. It took me converting most of my gear just to get out from there (potions->b2p->WEYTWUT), of course I went back after Chaos Avatar and killed every one of them... Hell hath no fury like a Tinker (almost) scorned... Note I didn't prep the extra altar, and I only had JJ, Mystera and Pactmaker, so I did not have Dracul show up (I guess he is the extra today).

Btw I managed to avoid wall formations almost completely (only during mop-up did 1-2 walls form, but nothing prohibitive), which I believe is the key to winning Shifting Passages! So especially in light of the <33% winrate I see at time of writing, guys, girls, please read the basic tips on the wiki, Darvin wrote a really nice paragraph specifically on the wall formation, it's totally helpful! Especially if you have JJ on board, you can get a free WEYTWUT, there's no excuse not to teleport every monster into a "safe" tile just next to a wall gap, where you can stand to land the killing blow and block walls from spawning!
