Was gunna blast the boss with fireballs and completely ignore my class features just for the hell of it, then I saw SMM. Yeah, even on Venture Cave fireball spamming that guy is a bad idea. Found the Vampiric Blade and proceeded to tear him apart. Nice fun and easy run. I decided to clean up rather than go for a high time today. Not going to hit anywhere near top on the XP charts since I never entered Earthmother and (in hindsight) forgot to chug all my potions on alchemy pact, but still a nice fun romp.

Nice fun casual mono-GG run for me. Yeah that kind of blocked using the juicy things like Vampiric Blade, Venom Dagger, or all those potions, but none of that was really needed. Even forgot to pick up Whupaz, but by the time I noticed it, SMM was already down to low health... I'd say, the toughest challenge in today's Daily was remembering the deities' pet peeves (Earthmother detests Lifestealing; GG scorns both Lifesteal and Poison!).

This dungeon highlighted to me how much it can matter which direction you explore in. I was working in an outward spiral pattern from the middle and had over three quarters of the map uncovered and had only found 2 useless shops, no subdungeons and no boss. For a generally easy dungeon, it wasn't looking so easy.

But I was sticking to my guns and looking for higher level targets. I was casting WONAFYT and ENDISWAL everywhere even though I wasn't attacking anything with my massive 2 damage. Oh right, I hadn't found any gods either and was thinking how much potential piety I was wasting.

Patience paid off, though. I only attacked higher level monsters as I found them and slowly my XP climbed. I eventually found SMM and had to ignore him I had the vampire blade but no poison and only 11MP so regen wasn't feasible yet.

As it turned out, I ended up killing SMM at level 9 with only the vampire sword and the +4 sword, along with BURDAYRAZ. I still hadn't found any subdungeons or other good shop items. I couldn't even buy WHUPAZ as I had no gold. I did find the Pact Maker and took Concensus and the Alchemist pact which let me level up during the SMM fight.

After killing SMM I walked around for cleanup and found everything that I wished I had found earlier, including the gold subdungeon, which I guess I really didn't need.

This week has really taught me to rethink how to play this game. The new way is working better than the old one.

Orc Assassin in Magma Mines
With Mystera available as a prep, JJ on the field, and BLUDTUPOWA spawning as a glyph, today's dungeon was very straightforward. My time suffered due to how long it took me to find the bosses; I had already killed all the level 8's and 9's by the time I located the two goblin lieutenants in their hiding place in the upper-right corner of the map. I used Refreshment and Mystic Balance to get some easy power-leveling off of those wraiths, then did the same to the physical resist boss once I located him. Never even touched my potions, and I decided to do a quick once-over of the map and clear away any stragglers. I converted to JJ and used chaos avatar at the end just for style points. Not topping either time or XP today, but I think my composite score is respectable ^_^

Went a very different way but still mowed everything down; Assassin is a good class. Dragon Shield prep and to a lesser extent Sticky Stick makes getting +4 to 5 level regen fight kills pretty easy; the only goofy part is letting Minotaurs heal up to just above half health where you can survive a non berserk hit and then finish off with Light Foot. No combat glyphs found until I had already gotten the momentum I needed; no B2P find either. At least the bosses didn't hide from me.

This sucks. The server was down for about 2 minutes, and the game doesn't even give me an error message so I can't retry submitting :(
