Thanks for the feedback! It's super helpful, especially since I was sort of treating this as a "training run" to learn Vampire before taking on VGT with it. (My only VGT win was Human Paladin of GG.)
That makes a ton of sense about the higher-level monsters. I didn't start attacking two-levels-higher monsters until I was taking basically 0 net damage per hit from them, it makes sense that they'd have started being doable long before then. And as you say, the bigger game you hunt, the more blood cows you leave alive for later. And it's true, by the end damage rather than lifesteal was my limiting factor.
If you think Patches was a hero that run, in my previous two-hits-from-victory run Patches gave me four resist-ups and revealed the boss safely for me. (Too bad I prepped Platemail/Elite instead of Dragonshield/Quest that time around!)
When you say "no win has yet been recorded in Troll Lab without killing the Blood", do you mean as a Warmonger Vampire for the quest, or do you mean ever at all? The Blood's a target you wouldn't even think to skip for the Vampire because it's the only non-bloodless one (though "FFFF3, Spare the Blood" could be a neat challenge run), but I can't imagine why it would be mandatory for other classes when you have the option of killing Trollenstein's Monster instead.
Curious EB was really cool the one run I tried, but the game crashing as soon as the first of the endgame bossfights (I assume) started was a bit of a letdown. But since I have a decent theory why that happened, I suppose that's no reason not to give it another shot... after I've cleared Gilded Goat 5 to unlock 6.
On an unrelated note, I managed to clear Lekon's Table recently as a Rogue! No particular challenge or quest, but I figure that as with Phantom Citadel, the quests will be easier if I've done non-challenge runs of the dungeon first.
